Poor Elvis! Did he cry himself to sleep. To sleep perhaps to dream of being the only cat on the big red couch with the woman gently giving him scritches and pets and her undivided attention. Sweet dreams, Elvis!
Squirrely Richard has a medical issue requiring hospitalization until after labor day. Poor Puddin is all alone without enough food. His friend does not drive. I ordered a bag of kibble to be delivered tomorrow morning. Hopefully someone will be able to look in on her. The super possibly. This is something we feared would happen. He literally knows no one where he’s moved to. If he was still in Kingston I would just drive up.
I wanted to continue yesterday’s discussion of opera for a moment since Iggy does such a great job with his. I missed mentioning my most favorite modern day composer is Andrew Lloyd Webber. His Phantom and follow up Love Never Dies music, for me, is so gorgeous, I have a tattoo of the Phantom mask on my ankle. He’s written some beautiful operas in maybe not the truest sense of the word where there’s no speaking in every one of them, but he understands completely the composition of them. Another would be Leonard Bernstein. West Side Story was brilliant. That’s still all opera and look at the diverse fans they have. So people might not like “old fashioned opera”, but they might not realize how much they like opera! :)
Re: raccoons. After the discussion of Iggy and opera yesterday, I thought I would share that I have an operatic raccoon! The giant male who shows up sometimes has started visiting more often now that the kits are old enough that their mothers aren’t afraid he will eat them. He’s really a very gentle beast, slow moving (when he’s not startled into a dash), and polite. And he sings! The first time I heard him singing was to his lady love. But since we’ve gotten used to each other, now he sings to me! I have decided his name is Caruso. He starts squeaking and trilling with delight up in the trees to tell me to wait for him to come over. He never comes very close because he just can’t overcome the instinct to fear humans, but he wants to. Sometimes he sits up and grooms his chest fur and thinks about working his courage up and then he sneaks closer… closer… but no. He can’t do it. He retreats into the shadows. And then he starts sneaking up again.
We had our kitty and our daughter brought hers while she stayed with us. We got two heating pads but my daughter’s cat would sleep like Elvis and cover both of them.

Lupin. Lupin, do NOT go pounce on Elvis. No. Ora Zella, this means you too.

That is one pitiful grumpy old dude. (But dignified, of course.) I hope Elvis gets a consolation cuddle later.

In a refreshing change of pace, Lupin is fed up with Elvis’ nonsense.

Is anyone else experiencing a lot of pop-up adverts on BCN these days? It seems every time I load the page, a full page pop-up covers the comic.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Kat Kiosk
Elvis-Anum: Well, ice cream time is over. Time to head back to the palace.
Puckmosis: Yes. There’s so much to do. Well, guys and gal, see you back at the palace.
Sophititi: And I’ll be sure to take care of the rubber tree plant.
Queen Ant Anante: We’ll go to help out at the Xanadu hive, then take a well-deserved rest.
Iggy: I know ants are tireless workers. You helped us with setting up the stage for the Getting Better Kittens’ concert.
Queen Anante: Always glad to help. Well, gang, time to get started.
Worker Ants: Xanadu, Xanaduuuuu!
Now we are going to Xanadu!
Elvis-Anum: Now back to the palace to do what we do best.
Sometime Later
Cats: ZZZZzzzzzz….
