Earl, you know what your problem is? You’re always so darn short-sighted you say something which could be nice and helpful in a way and at a time that almost always gets you into trouble.

“Fixing dinner” (sounds like dinner is broken) like “doing the dishes” (sounds like a dance) are phrases of the elderly (of which I am one!).

How is she supposed to relax after making you dinner? Then there’s dishes to do. Because we all know Earl isn’t ABOUT to do them FOR her!

I quit doin’ that “stuff” a few years ago.

Dinner is essential, but Opal could easily get away with doing a lot less dusting and vacuuming if she were willing to lower her standards to Earl’s level. As for ironing…good grief, in what century is she still living?

Poor Earl! Always annoyed by his ever-busy wife. Imagine having to sit and watch somebody be busy ALL DAY LONG??

Meh – so tired of the old nonsense that men (old or young) can’t fix meals.

Why is that men can sit around all day while wives have to do all the work? Then, to have the nerve to tell her to relax. Don’t they realize that nothing would get done if she just relaxes all day, day after day, like he does? Pickles is an utterly useless man. Sorry she is stuck with him.
