That said, Calvin in p3 is like Gollum leading Frodo into Shelob’s lair.

I love Watterson’s attention to detail. The notebook in panel three could easily have been marked with a simple line, but he shows the spiral binding. Also the folds in the clothing. And the design on what could have been a plain lamp.

I love how Calvin’s face looks like a little old man in the last panel. Now we know what’s coming…
