Being Scottish, Fala was duly upset when the Republicans lied about the cost of the destroyer going back to pick him up. Fala was never lost, he was always by FDR’s side . FDR was the only person who fed Fala until his passing. Of course Fala was also memorialized with FDR. It would not have been proper without him.

I usually don’t read a comic strip with all that wording, but I really enjoyed this one.

What a sweetie, was Fala. By the way, autocorrect tried to turn the dog’s name to falafel. Oy!

Fala is one of my favorite dogs! I love him so! Thanks, Nancy!

The most successful dogs in politics might be those who have been elected to be the mayor in the towns where they live.

I apologize for the small type. It will not be used again. The next ‘historical dog’ strip will have larger, more readable type.

Brings back many memories. I was 8 years old in 1944. But didn’t know about Fala Barking when President Roosevelt died.

The Fala statue at the Roosevelt memorial is well-polished from all the people petting him. True!

I have a picture of Fala’s marker but can’t figure out a way to share it here.

What an amazing story.

The most famous Presidential dog, pre-Fala, was Laddie Boy, President Harding’s Airedale. A brand of canned dog food was named for him.
