Did the artist use the same stencil for all the faces, or is this just a bad case of inbreeding?

General Grant wonders if there’s another war where he’s needed .

I see that Grant was thrifty – he brought spare uniforms home from work for his boys to wear.

The painting doesn’t appeal to me but I wanted to know more about the artist. I couldn’t find anything online about him. There are several John Smiths but not this one. I guess his painting never improved.

Should not take those endorsements for Granted.

The daughter wants to join the Army, too. She knows that she can make that uniform look good.

General looks like he can’t get his leg up to cross it. Wonder why the artist did that?
