I love Christmas as much as the next guy, but in my humble opinion, we shouldn’t put up decorations or play Christmas music on the radio until after November 11 which is the day we remember all the fallen soldiers who died so we could have the freedom to celebrate Christmas at all.
I dread seeing these ads about Christmas, because it means that any day now, my neighbor across the street will turn on his blinking holiday lights and leave them on 24/7 for the next 6 months or so.
We went to Dollar Tree last week and were disappointed to find that the Christmas decorations section of the Dollar Tree was almost as big as the Halloween decorations section. It wasn’t even October yet.
I worked in retail for over 25 years. Each year, the Xmas stock would arrive by the end of June, and each year I was tasked with setting everything up, usually during the beginning of October.Nearly every customer who walked by frowned and said, very ‘originally’ [s/c], “Xmas ALREADY??? It’s too SOON!!”Like it was MY decision.I’m amazed that I never went Postal.

Our local supermarket has been selling Christmas sweets and chocolates since the middle of August. If that’s not “too soon” I don’t know what is.

The older I get, the longer it takes to prepare for the holidays. So bring it on.
