how does one contact Jim Davis or whoever does the ads for GoComics to tell them the spanish ATT ad locks up the page – really irritating. If I didn’t have my favorite comics, I would just drop this whole thing – but I also enjoy irritating the plugger lefties. :-)
Usually it’s commercials…there’s a dental service ad running “Come and Get Your Love” lately…then there’s the ad for, I think, constipation relief running “I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore”…
When standing in a line and there’s familiar music playing, I start humming along to some old favorites. When I get to the teller or barista I sing a few notes and warn them it is a dangerous thing to have music playing I know the words to!
Back in the ‘80’s, our local grocery store played “beautiful music” background music. One day I realized that they were playing a beautiful music version of the Stones “Sympathy For The Devil”
The first time I heard something from my youth on grocery store speakers, it was a bit of a shock. I turned to the young woman near me and told her she’ll know she’s old when it takes a few minutes to realize the music is muzak.
When we were kids in the 1950’s adults were always criticizing our music. If it was so bad, why is it still being played in 2024? There are even radio stations all over that specialize in “oldies.”
When was the last time you heard our parents’ music—Guy Lombardo, Ken Griffin, Jimmy Dorsey, Ella Fitzgerald?
When that song first came out on the radio, I thought it was a commercial – I just couldn’t figure out what the product was. It was a while before I realized it was actually a “song.”
I was initially surprised to hear guitar music from my youth being played at a local outdoor restaurant. It took me a while to recognize the theme: Public Domain.

This plugger puckers on elevators if alone. Then, just before my floor, I let it rip.
All part of the pluggers’ code of conduct.

I used to work in retail, and remember hearing an instrumental Kiss song…I knew I was old then.
