Why are people always so desperate to find a significant other? It doesn’t automatically mean that your life will be complete. Besides, it’s practically impossible to find one these days, anyways.

I’ve been saying for a while now that I’m attracted to the sort of woman about whom, if we were together, people would be saying “Oh, she could do so much better.” The problem is that every woman I’ve met who fits the bill knows that and is unwilling to settle.
I come to realize, after four marriages and seventy five years of living, that getting to know yourself first is w a y more important than getting to know another. Not more enticing, or arousing, just way more important in the long run of the relationship, IMHO.
“Lowered Expectations!” I didn’t really expect to find someone. I did try on the rare occasions a good possibility came along. Got pretty close once, my senior year through college, then she dumped me. Figured I’d be a “bachelor till the Rapture.” Then I tried sitting by a woman in church who’d been a widow for a year or two — I was too shy to say anything, gave up for good… and then she contacted me and that began a relationship that has now become our marriage. 8)

I notice that Paris Goat didn’t write down any physical attributes. Is he also hoping for “desperate”?

I don’t think “Likes bacon” would be a good quality in a mate for Pig.

I was once asked about what I wanted in a girlfriend, and said “Living” as the first thing.

Don’t sell yourself short, Pig. You’re a sweet guy, you’ll find someone soon.

If anything happened to my wife, I don’t think I’d try dating. I don’t want to compete with a phone.

Years after my friend’s divorce, his youngest daughter (in her mid teens) said, “Dad, you just need to find a woman with low expectations.” Ouch.

I did not know that Pig was ambidextrous. I thought he was only left handed, ergo in his right mind !!
