I think we all have this backwards. Maybe the alien Doombas aren’t here to attack. Maybe they are groupies here to pay tribute to Tortimer. Maybe they are fans!
Why are they only attacking that place? I suspect it is all the cat and other animal fur in the carpet. Maybe Tortimer sent out a distress signal that he could not handle it all himself.
Oh, the poor Girl (and presumably the Boy also)! Their Mom won’t wake up, the elder cats are asleep or hypnotized, horrible noises are coming from the far side of the door, and only Kittens (and Lupin) for protection. They must be terrified.
Why of course what else but that. Them steenky aliens robots is here to takes away one of theirs kind back to his steenky home planet. And also to conquers the world and rules the earth of course.
Obveeously them steenky aliens is needs more steenky robots of theirs kind to fights with them in their attack to takes over the planet earth. Which is why thems is here to recruits al the steenky robots on earth.
Finally we return to the possessed cats! The question of what the roombas want is a good one. Could they actually be trying to rescue what they believe is a subjugated compatriot?
Lupin: No, I’m serious, and quite calling me Shirley.
Narrator: Well if you must know, this is the only apartment in the Big Pink House on the Hill that has two kids and a bunch of crazy cats who devoured an entire half gallon of ice cream and are now in a sugar induced mass hallucination, while playing in their blanket fort in the living room with he plate of Ding Dongs that the woman brought you for a snack.
Trying to figure out what’s going on with Elvis’s jammies. He appears to be wearing a green “shirt”, but what is the green striped thing with the white towel? over top of it? Then whatever that green-striped thing is is not visible in the last panel? Is that his bathrobe? So is he taking it off? What’s the white thing?
You tell him, Ora, (even though he’s mind-controlled and probably can’t open the door, anyway) while you give your brother time to decipher the message.
So only Tortimer is an alien roomba and all the other roombas out there are the normal kind? Surely there are multiple owners of roombas on planet Earth!
Having invoked “Louie, Louie,” I choose to hold forth a wee bit. When I was almost, but not quite, old enough to go to rock’n’roll dances, there was a place on Highway 99 south of Seattle called the Spanish Castle. That was where the HS and college kids went to dance & get into the good rock’n’roll. I was in Jr High at the time. Oh, how I envied the older kids who could go there. In part, because there was one particular local band that was almost the house band: “Rockin’” Robin Roberts and The Wailers. They even had a hit record—well, at least in the Seattle area—and it was the closest version of “Louie, Louie” to that of Richard Berry, who wrote the song. Thus, I grew up knowing that “Louie, Louie” only sounded right with a good saxophone player in the band. I only ever knew of one band to come close to doing it justice w/o a sax and that was some Portland (OR) band called the Kingsmen. But w/o the sax, it just wasn’t right. Fortunately, Paul Revere brought his Raiders over from Idaho, and they had a good sax player and did the 3rd best “Louie, Louie” I’ve heard—after Richard Berry and Robin Roberts’ versions. Most local bands would play it when they did dances, and I went to many of those dances. I was disappointed, though, that one particular well-thought-of local band didn’t do “Louie, Louie”. It would’ve been great had Tiny Tony & the Statics done it, for then I’d have heard their regular singer sing it. Miss Merrilee Rush.

Inspired By Shakespeare’s Scottish Play
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow
Leaves its dust and debris from day to day
To the last snore of the sacred nap
And all our yesterdays have lighted cats
To boxes tiny yet impossible. Out, out, brief kibble!
Life’s but an empty bowl, awaiting ham and bacon
And then is filled no more. It is a tale told by the humans
Full of sound and fury
Signifying naps.

The Kingsmen: Louie Louie
Doomba, Doomba,oh no, you take me where ya gotta go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby
Doomba Doomba, oh baby, don’t want you here, you gotta go
So many doombas, they cannot be
Mother ship, take them across the sea
We know that we are not alone
And now I think you should go home
Doomba, Doomba,oh no, you take me where ya gotta go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby
Doomba Doomba, oh baby, don’t want you here, you gotta go
For nights and days they sailed through space
And now they’re here constantly
On the ship, they need to go
And go back home and leave us alone
