“Creativity belongs to the artist in each of us. To create means to relate. The root meaning of the word art is ‘to fit together’ and we all do this every day.”
When I was in first year of art college, the project was “City at Night”. So I painted a detailed image of the city at night and was quite proud of it. I had a horrible critique. Someone in the class literally spray painted a welcome mat pink and hung it on the wall. The instructor RAVED about it. That was when I realized I should get into cartooning.
I got frustrated with an art project in high school. I wadded up several attempts, then one of the balled up wads caught my eye. I turned it in & got an A+ …!

Ha! Look at this one! Some wannabe just slapped a doorknob on the wall and is trying to call it art! Wait… that’s actually the door… sorry!!!

Many great artists in history didn’t have an education in art and their works are admired. Then one sees the work of one’s with art degrees today…

Now that’s just silly. A REAL “artist” would at least have given it a more impressive-sounding name, like “Early Abstract Study.”

I would call this “My dog sneaked my bowl of Lucky Charms cereal off the table and this is what he barfed up.”

Nowadays it would be, “My AI Assistant could do that!”
And it probably could, since most art that appears online has been snarfed into the training sets.
