Me guy, me literal thinker…At least that is what I tell my Wife. I think after 32 years of marriage she has finally stopped asking questions because she knows she will get an answer/solution whether she wants it or not.

If she meant “take the laundry down to the laundry room, sort it, put it in the washer and start the washer, please” she should have said so.

I’m female and don’t get what she wanted him to do. He did what she said. I would never expect my husband to start the laundry. He doesn’t know how to use the washer. I don’t want him pushing the wrong buttons and messing something up.

One of the best features of our new house is the washer & dryer in the hall between the bedrooms.

He spared her the quite real risk of losing her balance from the basket of clothes in front of her and no hand free to grasp the rail.

Just curious, why would Janis need the laundry taken downstairs if the bedroom is upstairs? If you’re washing your clothes, don’t you fold them and hang them up in your bedroom? It sure seems as if Janis is in the bedroom in her Pj’s at the vanity desk.

Husband is a better cook than I am. (Though I am better at normal food, he is better at fancy food.)

But when we got married he had NO idea of how to do laundry – he lived at home until we married and a bit after we were. First 10 years I had to go to a public laundry, so did not mention anything to him about learning to do laundry.

This continued until he decided he wanted to do weaving. I had managed to show him how to many home tasks (and he was impressed and surprised that I could do many “guy” things such as hand/power tools and so on) but laundry he refused to learn.

Then he took up weaving. AH HA! When he finishes weaving an item it has to be “finished” by washing it in a washer. He now has a basic understanding of how the washer and dryer work (though the woven items have to be removed from dryer while still damp and laid out to finish drying).

And since he quit his job about 15 years ago he also now knows where we bank, where we food shop, where our Post office box is – and where I deposit outgoing mail at the PO, etc. Also when and where my embroidery chapter meets as he gets left home alone when I go to same. He knew how to cook – fancy dishes which take every pot in the kitchen before we got married. He has learned to stitch embroidery, sew, and weave. I still need to teach him how to properly wash dishes, pots, etc while using the least water. (I won’t pay to fix or replace the darn dishwasher a 3rd time – easier to just wash by hand and let air dry.)
