I have a list of all bills that my wife and I have, both mail and autopay. Ever since we got married. I have one magazine I am about to go to war with for not cancelling.
I’ve never liked the idea of auto pay. I don’t trust any entity “automatically” pulling money out of my wallet each month. I’ve always declined any such invitation to partake of such a convenience.
I’ve been trying to get rid of one for several months. Their phone has a message to send them an e-mail. Of course that does no good. I’m thinking I’m going to have to cancel the credit card just to get rid of them.
I have a few of the consistent bills on auto. The once a year types I have listed in ‘reminders’ in my phone set to pop up a few days ahead of payment. But with trust issues I also check my bank and ccard balances online every few days.
My wife always tells me that we can just put our bills on automatic debit. I say no; I want to feel the pain of that money going out every month; it keeps it real and encourages frugality.

Husband set up several autopays and when dementia crept in, he couldn’t remember what they were for. Had to close the bank account to stop them.
