I love Miracle on 34th Street, the original. I also like Die Hard. Another good one is We’re No Angels with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Ustinov.

Miracle on 34th Street release date: June 11, 1947. Die Hard release date: July 12, 1988. If Miracle on 34th Street can be released in June and be called a Christmas movie so can Die Hard that was released in July.

It takes place on Christmas.

Die Hard was named one of the best Christmas film ever!

I watch Die Hard every year come Christmas time…

34th st. must be an action packed flick, cause they’re all on the edge of their seats.

Constantly bickering about that stupid movie is one of my least favorite Christmas traditions.

Everybody knows the best Christmas film is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!

The Bishop’s Wife with Cary Grant is a really good one that doesn’t get a lot of notice.

Yes, Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. Anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong.

haven’t seen any of the mentioned movies, but “Hog Father” should be considered.

Die Hard is about a guy slinking around a tower late at night trying to elude Alan Rickman. It’s not a Christmas movie, it’s a Harry Potter movie.

In our house during the season: White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, While You Were Sleeping, The Santa Clause, The Knight Before Christmas, Die Hard 1&2, and A Miracle on 34th Street. To be fair to the younger crowd: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, Frosty the Snowman and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Merry Christmas…

I used to agree that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but a friend has persuaded me that it is actually a Hanukkah movie: “it’s about using scarce resources to defend a tower from foreign invaders”

Only because that is when the plot is set. Otherwise, just another “murder everyone” action flick.

um… Miracle on 34th Street is a Thanksgiving movie. It takes place during the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.

I see most of my Christmas movie favs listed here but can think of a few more: Holiday Affair, It Happened on 5th Avenue, The Shop Around the Corner and Home Alone. As for “Thanksgiving movies,” in addition to Miracle on 34th Street, I always watch one of my all-time favorites, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and, Don’t Say a Word.

“Ernest Saves Christmas” and “A Christmas Story” are a tradition in my family.

My favorite is Psycho, If you time it out, Norman gets busted Christmas Day.

Clearly ‘our’ favorite is not everyone’s favorite.

Miracle on 34th St is a Thanksgiving movie. As is You’ve got Mail. Bell Book and Candle is a Christmas movie.

For fans of the great oldies find “The Man In The Santa Clause Suit” with Fred Astair, Gary Burghoff, Burt Convy and John Byner.

Every year this comes up, and every year we prove that yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie! Not the best Christmas movie, but a really good one!

Die Hard is the ONLY one (Christmas movie) worth watching (of the bunch)! So is The Shining!

If someone thinks it’s a Christmas movie…then yes it is to them. As long as they aren’t forcing you to watch it…how does it hurt you. Christmas movie cops and almost as worthless as the grammar cop.

Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie; it just takes place DURING Christmas.

The Christmas cartoons are best. Most of the old ones and some of the new ones.
