Of course Blue Moon usually refers to a second Full Moon in a month. It appears JJ has Arlo crooning about tomorrow, November 30th, hosting the second New Moon. I guess it could merit a tip of the hat but the slicked back hair and pencil thin mustache are a bit much, and just what are we supposed to think about the flying pink panty? Strange things are afoot.
We had an natural astoroid called the PT5 that was in our Earths rotation for a few months. It fit all the descriptions of being a moon. It left the orbit towards the sun. The panties are a reference to crooners like Sinatra having panties thrown because the women were so enthrawed that they would show their affection in this manner.
Sez here that “Blue Moon” was written by Rodgers and Hart in 1934 with various recordings in the 30s, but it became a well-known hit after charting twice in 1949, one by Billy Eckstine and the other by Mel Tormé. If you look at the photo of Eckstine on Wikipedia, that looks like who Arlo is imitating, though i don’t see any panties flying in the Eckstine photo…
It has been pointed out by some that the correct term is “panties” but seeing as it is the first and only time I have mentioned these unmentionables I beg forgiveness.

An Arlo fantasy? Especially with a crooner image of a slicked back hairstyle and tux.

I’m from Kentucky, so blue moons remind me of a famous blue grass song.

We only slightly delayed the little second moon from its journey around the Sun. A mere momentary attraction.

Every other comic that Jimmy has done is better than this one.

My memory went to the Elvis version of “Blue Moon”. And I sang it twice with the new lyrics. I wonder how many readers did the same thing. Cheers
