When I worked in a plating shop at an aircraft company they asked me one night to epoxy some rings on a large canister. The work was done away from the main building in a concrete bunker. I asked what the part was and got, “Don’t ask.” A few years later I found that these were missile hot-gas generators.
Bombs were once spherical in shape so they could be launched like regular cannon balls (“the bombs busting in air”). Smaller ones could be grasped like a baseball and throw.
The latter were called pomegranates because the resembled the fruit. This was later shortened to grenade.
My job started using diesel vehicles along with the gas ones. They were too cheap to just put plaques on the vehicles and thought that the workers would know which ones needed which fuel. After a few mishaps they decided to put on the plaques.
Disclaimer/Warning: This Bowling Ball is produced in a factory that also produces bombs. Anyone sensitive to explosive materials or shrapnel should use this ball with extreme care.

Knocked down every pin in the alley, and in the whole building. First time anyone bowled a 300 in one turn.
