One year, when I was growing up, it was right before Christmas and Mom came home from shopping carrying several bags. We asked her what was in the bags. On top of one of the bags was a box of tissues, so she said ‘tissues’ with a look that told us not to asking any more questions. From then on ‘tissues’ became the code word for ’don’t ask, its too close to Christmas’
Had Christmas gifts for the grandkids sent by Amazon to my daughter. Told her when they would arrive. She forgot and opened the box in front of the kids – the surprise was gone in a flash.
UPS delivered a box yesterday and we weren’t expecting anything so I opened it – it was stuff from the Amazon gift list which the kids have access to. Seems the dear wife put stuff in the wrong list while deciding about them – good thing we have a use for them ;>)
Just another example of the problems that lying brings. If they knew the truth, and had been taught the reason that the giving and receiving of presents is done and what it symbolizes and honors, instead of it just being a goody grab, situations like this would not occur over and over again. But then the telling of lies of all kinds has become so much more prevalent in the U.S. over the past few years that it would go against the American grain to do otherwise.
Then a simple, “you will have to wait to see” would be a satisfactory answer for young and old alike. They would also most likely have a more compassionate and understanding heart for others, being more inclined to service to others in need.
The other day a salesman rang the doorbell and as I opened the door I just said “Whatever it is I don’t have the money for it, thanks.” When I got back to the laptop I went to Amazon and got a metal No Soliciting sign, it said No Soliciting Fundraising Politics Salesmen Religion Thank you. The old No Soliciting sticker died from the Arizona heat and peeled off the wall.

Good thing it wasn’t Zoe, she would be asking more questions to figure out what it is.

And so Wanda’s lingerie purchases were kept from the prying eyes of the kids. Merry Christmas Darryl.

“Does it have your name on it”“No….”“Then let whoever’s name is on it open it. You can open any boxes that come with your name on them.”

Say… I just thought of something. If Zoe was born January 7th 1990, shouldn’t she be 34 years old now???

I’ve never thought of it this way before, but I’ll bet it really is tricky sneaking all those delivery boxes past kids who believe in Santa.

Hey, at least he asked if he could open it. It could have been, “Hey, Mom, look what came in this box!”

Smooth talker.
My package came yesterday.
Sardines in mustard sauce!
Not sure if I can wait until Christmas, though.
