So this is what happens when the 99% become the 1%…they’re rich but they feel guilty. Don’t worry, guy. Since Obama wants the rich to pay for everybody else with their taxes, you’ll be poor again real soon.
Yeah, because we know nobody ever became rich with a tax rate of 39%. Oh, wait… people became rich with a tax rate over 90%! So I guess the “Obama’s going to take all our money” argument is actually pretty stale.
I’m just going to say, hmm, when I learned to type, I bought a used Smith-Corona. Not the greatest machine, but lasted till I got a PC and a word processor on it.Not a best seller, if he went through 22 printings and only made $250,000. But it would have been nice in the 1980s.
There are two kinds of conservatives: ones who choose to be before knowing anything (and we are overloaded with that sanctimonious kind), and ones who start out liberal and then gain experience, ultimately seeing value in some conservative positions. To me, the best conservative is still a liberal at heart, The best liberal? The RICH kind! (See list of names above.)
If he felt guilty about saving $91,000 under Regan’s tax cuts he should have donated it to the charity of his choice. Funnily enough, conservatives give much more to charity than liberals (and yes I do realize that Bill Gates has given approximately 30% of his net worth to charity but then he has always struck me as fiscally conservative and socially liberal).
Reagan had a liberal Democrat Congress to deal with. When it comes to spending and taxes, Democrats and other liberals are like alcoholics are with alcohol. They will do anything for it, and Reagan had to compromise with them to get the funds to defend the country. Reagan agreed to higher taxes to defend America.
AH, NOW I REMEMBER WHY I ESCAPED TO BLOOM COUNTY. VINEGARED VIPERS AND VIGOROUS VILIFIERS. I’LL READ THE STRIP AND LEAVE THIS FORSAKEN “BATHROOM STALL” OF THE INTERNET.
Regan did indeed cut taxes—for a little while. When this didn’t spur on the economy he restored the taxes and instead borrowed from the treasury. Regan tripled the national debt as a percentage of GNP while he was in office; this is what supported the economy during the 80’s. Unfortunately this was such an easy and popular way to keep the economy going that every president—except one—continued to add to the debt load. Who was the only president to lower the debt? Clinton! Now, the way to get a dead economy moving is to inject money into the economy and later plan on the tax revenue rising as business picked up; see Keynesian theory. To get the country out of the Bush depression, Obama had to jack up the national debt, a plan that s4ems to be working.

Still true today, the only difference being that this liberal seems to have a conscience.

Many rich people are liberals, out of a false sense of ‘guilt’ for having made so much!

To paraphrase Maggie Thatcher: Liberalism works until you run out of other people’s money.

Liberals are hypocrites. Always have been, always will be, by design.
