Alice: The jungle gym looks weird. Dill: It was in a big fight last night. Another jungle gym came sniffing around its territory and they started growling at each other. It quickly escalated into a full-out tube-slide-swinging brawl. Alice: How do you know this? Dill: I heart it last night. Didn't you? Alice: Dad said that was cats. Dill: Adults live in such a strange little world.

@Up the Rabbit Hole: you must not have cats. My neutered male cats have all been real big on sniffing around and growling, howling, yowling, meowing, and in general letting the nearby world know that this is their territory. Luckily, most have been all talk and no action, which keeps the vet bills down.

My neighbor had a cat who they allowed to stay outside all day and night, and he’d get into scrapes with other outdoor cats as he was very shall I say – assertive. I’d be in my yard with my one cat who was allowed to be out with me, and the noise that would ensue could have lifted the dead.

I can easily ignore the noise cats make if it’s my bedtime (like now) but preying on nice native birds makes me angry and I will avenge them!
