Grandma: Michael, eat your spinach! Popeye eats spinach!
Michael: Popeye also has tattoos, gets in fights, smokes and eats food right out of the can.
Grandma: I enjoy having smart kids - most of the time.
I love spinach (fresh), but I’m concerned that it contains so many oxalates (which block absorption of calcium), and I have a high-oxalate diet as it is. =/ Lately, I’ve been replacing it with lettuce, kale, turnip greens, etc.

Cooking it is the problem. It is great in salads. Would you cook lettuce? Then why do it to spinach?
