Remember, Calvin, Mom knows best — and what Mom knows best is how to prove she’s right!

Looks like the rock had a better chance of ‘jumping’ into the leaf pile. Calvin’s grasp of physics leaves something to be desired.

Maybe if the little bleeping kid payed attention in school and learned about physics, he could have avoided this.

Why couldn’t he just jump into the leaves the old fashioned way?

It’s kind of dated. Now she’d say you can’t jump in the leaf pile cause you might get Lyme.

He did show mom. That took him about 2 minutes. Man, if I built a springboard, it would take HOURS to make sure that it was right.

…actually, pretty good for a 6 year old, it looks like he had the right idea – a heavier rock and a sturdier board might have made it work…

Calvin has learned a valuable lesson. Always test your ideas before you put them in action kiddo. Calvin 0 – Rock 2.

someone asked "who couldn’t see this coming? I would say any male under 38 years old. I am 71 years old and I know it took me that long to stop having the rock hit me in the head. I finally got it and so I am still here.

Reminds me of my attempt using a rope swing under our old oak tree ….. I did manage to hit the leaf pile, but I didn’t know that my dad had also picked up all the dead tree limbs and branches before raking the leaves.I survived(obviously), but I had these WONDERFUL bruises for about a week along my back and right side. I was lucky not to break a rib.

Reminds me of the time some 65 years ago when I got the bright idea of hoisting myself up the side of a tree Batman style. Threw a rope over a limp and tied it to my belt. I then pulled on the rope as I tried walking horizontally up the trunk. I got about 4 to 6 feet from the ground when my belt broke. Landed flat on my back and was sore for two weeks. It is a wonder I didn’t break my neck. Later, it was really scary raising three boys because of these type memories.
