Caulfield: I heard some dude yelled at you to get your bike off the road. Frazz: It happens Caulfield: I heard he mooned you out his window. Frazz; Now, that's just gratuitous. Caulfield: You gotta speak their language, man.
Guess I should have seen that coming yesterday. And yeah, from New York to Minnesota, is definitely the North Coast..Could even count the Boundary Waters I suppose. Yes sir, fresh water seas….The northern Great Lakes are so clear, you can hardly see them until the water’s deep enough. And even still, when you see something down there about twenty feet or so, it’s probably really about fifty feet down…The lakes do get kinda messy down around the southern parts of Huron and Michigan….Superior has to be seen to believed. When you consider how little fresh water there is in the world it’s a priceless resource…
Jef, have you read the articles about conflicts in San Francisco between pedestrians and cyclists who don’t obey traffic laws? See: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2012/02/25/BAFH1NBLEI.DTL.
When we had to wear a uniform…you know, the ballet outfit? is about when I got out of bicycling…the whole point was to be natural, to ‘fit in’ as simple as possible…when I stopped spending much time on the road between LA and SF. Thoreau said something about activities requiring new clothes…sure liked two wheels, though. Civilization. And thank you, every motorist and driver who was kind and alert and lucky, thank you so very much. Of course i drive too…
@olddog1. Never drove in Michigan, but in California, bikes & cars go same direction, same side of the street. Walking is different, then walk facing traffic.
The characters’ relative position is common when the cyclist is in a left turn lane or the motorist is in a right turn only lane. Ironically, a cyclist actually using the correct lane for his destination is often what triggers troglodytes into yelling at him to get off the road.

Jef’s just getting Pastis back for lampooning him in Pearls a few weeks ago.

Isn’t one (at least) of them on the wrong side? Or going the wrong way?

Here’s one of the strips… Pearls from Feb 8th. Actually they’re friends — wouldn’t surprise me if Stephan drew part of this.
Cilantro! almost 13 years ago
I take it as a reference to the rudeness/crudeness of Pearls Before Swine. It’s always seemed like the anti-Frazz to me.

I was wondering when Mallet would get his revenge on Pastis…
(Mallet and Pastis are buddies who tweak each other fairly frequently.)

You may have tyo magnify the strip to see it but the shirt Frazz is wearing says Rat Racing down the side and has Rat’s profile on the left chest.

My day starts with cartoons and sets the mood for the rest of the day……………….

Some Midwesterners refer to the Great Lakes region as the “North Coast” so there’s a possibility of a three-way cartoonists’ war.
Maybe four – there’s always the Gulf Coast as well!

Team Mallet all the way!! Oh, you could easily replace Caulfield with Bart Simpson in this strip.

Could someone put up the link to Pastis’ jab at Mallett. Sadly, can only vaguely remember it at this point.

I went and looked at the 2/8 comic. That cyclist is Jeff, not Jef.
