Today he has no secrets hid, no past unknown. He has but Love’s sweet embrace. No longer alone, a shattered soul, a solitary pilgrim seeking saving Grace. Today his heart is hers and hers is his. Love triumphs and with just a single kiss the Past comes to an end and the Future now begins.
1. For once I called it right!2. Where does one find someone like Holly? ‘Cause I’ve been looking in all the wrong places.3. I agree with TSOJ, let’s just end the week here and enjoy the moment.
(to the tune of Amen by Leonard Cohen) Tell me again When the dittos have shown you And they’ve lifted the veil from my past Tell me again All this time that I’ve known you Now you’ve seen … what will you say at last? Tell me again With each horrible feature Tell me again I’ve become some strange creature Tell me again When I’ve killed them … the teacher Tell me that you want me then Amen… Tell me again All those victims lay dying Can their deaths ever be washed away? Tell me again Your’e still here and I’m trying But I’ve no idea what to say Tell me again When I’m having the nightmare Tell me again Now they’ve shown you the fright here Tell me again Tell me as you stand right here Tell me that you love me then Amen… Tell me again With the horrors you’ve seen now And the crimes I’ve committed are known Try me again When the pain is so keen now And the people I’ve killed you’ve been shown Tell me again When my soul is so blistered Tell me again When I have all this history Tell me again Now my past is no mystery Tell me you still love me then Amen… Tell me again That my personal story Is somehow just part of the War Tell me again When this memory so gory Doesn’t have to haunt me any more Tell me again That your love you’re still givin’ Tell me again You will help me start livin’ Tell me again That I’m somehow forgiven Tell me you still love me now Amen… In the original piece, Cohen was “already there”—he was ready for redemption in the first verse. As I worked with the lyrics, Wally made more of a journey, from self-loathing to numb loss to the beginnings of acceptance to a new beginning. I have tried to pay some small tribute to Aaron Neathery’s astounding storytelling and extroardinary characters with this rather somber piece. I hope it works for you. =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum And don’t forget to vote for both For Ursa Major awards!
I haven’t commented on your work before Level Head, but I have to here. Beautiful piece! I’ve liked prettty much everything you’ve posted, but I find this above the rest. Very nice work.
Wish we could have audio of Level Head’s piece for today as background for Aaron’s 4 frames. Not a dry eye in the house.Oh yeah, go vote. Only a few more to get Aaron to #34.
How can people NOT be touched by the characters in Endtown? I see so much of my own wife of 20 years in Holly, and in its own way, this story arc has helped me better appreciate what I’m so lucky to have because the parallels are right in front of me.
Thanks, Aaron, for not only creating an interesting and well-drawn strip, but such a HUMAN one (in an anthropomorphic sense, of course). There’s a reason Endtown has such a devoted following among its readers…it touches us.
Holly got through to him. I think we all could use that kind of sweetness and strength in our lives. And sometimes we must be that sweetness and strength in someones life. Or maybe we Get to be that sometimes.
How much would it be to get prints of todays strip? It is so sweet and so touching and so real. Aaron you are so amazing of a storyteller and artist thanks again!

looks like aaron M knew this would happen thats why he used the dittos to show her his past
do you think aaron M was trying to help sparkplug too ? that would explain why the dittos followed sparkplug to show him his past every night
or maybe hes just using them as lab rats to see how they react to reliving the worst time of their lives . we have no idea what hes thinking

Hence the appearance of Flask in the dream. Apex used him to kill during the war, now Flask was trying to do the same thing.

Aaron, that kiss in the last panel maybe one of the greatest in comic history or at least the most touching!

He also swore to protect Endtown. That takes precedent. You can’t make promises throughout life without some of them conflicting.

Notice how Aaron backed the viewpoint in the last panel so that we, the viewers, are giving the couple a little privacy.
