Yeah, Dooooooooooom! Seriously, I liked this cartoon the minute it occurred to me. If you made a horror film about the beginning of Summer, you could call it “The End of Quiet Days.” Chilling.
I would suggest a hypodermic tranquilizer, but half the kids sleep the summer away so that might be redundant. We spent the entire summer outside – sunrise to past sunset. There wasn’t enough time for swimming, baseball, shopping, hiking, exploring, go-carts, frisbee, camping, tree house, star-gazing, cloud-watching, …
Shouldn’t that be August, December and April, to make the off months equally distributed? My son’s school is just finishing its final year as a year-round school. I am REALLY going to miss it, since I believe that he (and his classmates) do much better with the 9 weeks on/3 weeks off schedule they’ve had. Much less burn out before they get a break, and three weeks is long enough that they are ready to go back when it is done. I would wish that they would use that scheduling in all schools in our district, elementary through high school. I’d bet that there would be fewer drop-outs and that the kids could be much better prepared for college too.

Lady, it is your offspring – deal with it. Use a stick if you have to.

Greg … the angle you drew Eddie at, adds to the ‘evil child’ persona! Also, the side stepping he does… LOL
