Took me a moment to notice the sniper rifle in the clock tower in the last panel.

I guess the same logic would apply to nuclear weapons. Every country should have them.

Given what happened in Colorado last week I’m surprised this is still up. Broom Hilda’s Wednesday strip was changed. In that one a little girl, who always shouts, said she’s not allowed in theaters because during action/adventure movies people can’t hear the gunshots.

To me it’s pretty amazing that this was written in 1999, and yet seems so contemporary.

I think this strip was shown Because of the Colorado shootings— not in spite of them.

Yeah, a maniac wearing body armor with high powered assault rifles facing off against some God-fearin’ NRA member who has spent a lot of time at the range, but who has never been in a real life-or-death situation. I’m thinking maniac still shoots a lot of people and others get caught in the cross fire.

What’s unfortunate is that the Eddie Eagle program is brought in to this in the first place.

Eddie Eagle does NOT teach you how to handle a gun, does NOT teach 2nd amendment rights, does NOT encourage the ownership of guns. In fact, it teaches kids to treat guns as though they were snakes: If you find one, don’t touch. Leave the area and tell an adult. If your friend has one, don’t play with it or even stick around – just leave the area and tell an adult.

The program is intended mostly to eliminate unintended shootings involving kids who don’t receive firearms safety instruction as a matter of course while growing up.

2nd amnd. refers to a militia, not individuals.

Boy, I sure hope you’re getting paid for posts like that. What a crashing bore otherwise.

Perhaps gun dealers might inquire of their customers as to whether or not they were thinking of shooting themselves. For those who answer in the positive the idea would be to steer them away from automatic and semi-automatic weapons, because once they’ve fired off a round into their brain they really wouldn’t be able to control their shooting any further. Come to think of it, perhaps gun dealers could ask their customers if they hadn’t considered wrapping themselves in the flag so tightly that they asphyxiate, so no gun needed. So much to ponder.

Yeah, right-the implication being that w/o forks people wouldn’t be fat cuz people not forks make us eat too much. Analogy has way too many holes.
