Transcript:
Mom: "Hi, you two. What's up?"
Brad: "Gotta stop Luann from a disaster!"
Dad: "Is there anything more comforting that firefighters rushing into your home to stop a disaster?"
Mom: "Luann they said?"
Oh, gawd. Leave Luann alone to her teenagehood. Let her learn from her mistake and she will move on, like everyone else. Toni is just projecting herself into Luann due to her experiences with guys like Dirk. Quill is no Dirk.
Come on, folks – it wasn’t that long ago that we were teens. There were plenty of things I wish I hadn’t taken so seriously (and plenty I wish I had taken MORE seriously). Adolescent angst…
LOL..OK, I admit it, I laughed at this one. It’s actually been a LONG time since I laughed out loud at a Luann comic, but dad’s dryly sarcastic remark in the last frame was just too perfect. Greg CAN still write funny lines from time to time ;)
Hurry you two. You need to stop Luann from doing the exact same thing that Toni did with Brad. That way she will never know how Quill feels about her. Since Tiff wasn’t able to destroy any possibilities of a relationship between Luann and Quill, Brad and Toni will do it.
Nancy seems to be accepting Toni today – even before she hears they are on a mission to save her daughter from some disastrous happening. Nancy’s probably thinking, “How come I didn’t know about this?”
Brad became a firefighter in honor and memory of the 9/11 responders. In that spirit, may I direct your attention to today’s beautiful tribute at the Dick Tracy comic strip (cut and paste into browser bar) content.comicskingdom.net/Dick_Tracy/Dick_Tracy.20120911.gif
Yesterday Mr. Evans generously solved two controversies: 1) what color is Luann’s hair, and 2) why isn’t it black. Thanks, Sir Scripter!Methinks this current arc is more about Toni than Luann. She may or may not stop Luann from asking Quill the big question, but regardless, when Toni sees Luann isn’t crushed, maybe she’ll take off her own suit of armor. At which point they’ll return to the Puppy benefit and she & Brad will commit to raising a puppy together, as puppies raised in two-parent families are proven to be healthier, wealthier, and better in school.
I think the deep personal interest that Toni is taking in Brad’s sister is a logical step. She loves Brad and may become his wife. She cares arout famillies, including her brother’s inability to properly care for his daughter. Now, rescue Luann. Not bad at all.
“If you think firefighters are overpaid, and have it easy, why don’t you become a firefighter?”-I think that way sometimes about neurosurgeons and investment bankers. If it were as easy as it looks, everybody’d be doing it.

Sheesh, you’d think they were rushing to someone having a coronary!

Wait, her parents were home? Why couldn’t they just call the main home phone line? Or one of the parent’s cell phones?

We should all be used to Big Brother regulating and controlling our lives by now.

Poor, clueless Nancy and Frank. Brad and Toni, to the rescue? Or will their actions just fan the flames of Luann’s burning heart?

Yes, please save her from herself. This could irrevocably change the complexion of the strip. Yeah, right.
Ratbrat about 12 years ago
Well everyone, this IS a comic strip where reality is not a priority!

This seems to be Greg’s effort at tying the most popular characters together with Luann.

I wonder if they’ll demonstrate to Luann the error of her ways by tearing out a wall or maybe ripping up some floor boards…….

Well, she can’t get pregnant and it’s a long walk to Australia (because she has no money to fly).

Can we finish with this arc and get back to TJ and Ann? I want to see how she gets her payback from him.

By now, Luann has moved on. Much ado about nothing. Probably in her room making out with Gunther.
wbgeek about 12 years ago
Why did they have to come in person? Cellphones exist in Luann’s world right?
StoicLion1973 about 12 years ago
So, has Nancy stopped being a b-tch to Toni?
