Tiffany looks like a blond version of Ann Eiffel in the middle panel – flirting with Ox the same way Ann did with Brad and Ox. And she is finding there IS a downside to being beautiful.

Leslie might’ve called a draw on the battle, but the war’s just getting started.

Tiff’s a conundrum. She’s vain, proud, shallow, and a host of other Shakespearian adjectives – but she seems to be looking for a relationship with someone who’s the antithesis of her. I find it a bit ironic that she sees Leslie as “icky” (yes, he is, but that’s not the point) when her own personality is just as repellent to anyone with eyes to see – like Quill. Very curious.

Ox…a wise fool…a sophomore. (based on the etymology of the word)

Their children will be Rhodes Scholars.

It is said that Thomas Aquinas was called a “Dumb Ox”; but he showed otherwise. Ox of Pittsville is not dumb, nor stupid, either. He may not be bookish, but he very wise—a gentle giant. Tiffany may find some redemption in associating with him even if there isn’t a real romance….

Ox may seem thick, but that little voice in his head won’t steer him wrong. He sniffed out Ann Eiffel’s stink. He’ll sniff out Tiff, if she takes advantage of him, too.

I’m intrigued….I think this may develop into something honest (hint, hint, Greg…)

Wow Ox, you’re one lucky guy:) You’re seeing Tiff in a rare moment where she’s let her guard down and is truly appreciative and grateful of a good deed. You’re strong Ox, but aren’t very handsome. This inner Tiffany sees past that. This is the Tiffany that we love, the one we know she really is deep down. She’s a bit rough around the edges right now, but so are caterpillars before they blossom into butterfies!

Accusing him of being a bully because he stepped up to help a smaller person stand up to a bigger person.-He didn’t threaten, didn’t strike, didn’t chase and yet a troll considers him a bully.-I can see why you don’t like him.

Tiff has a long history of using people for her own ends and I think that’s what she’s doing here: being nice to Ox for the protection she thinks he can provide for her.

If Tiffany slights, hurts, wounds or breaks Ox in any manner…I shall be quite vexed.

You’re probably right. But there’s part of me that wants them to have a relationship – and for Tiffany to mature through Ox. I know, that would ruin them for comic purposes, but it would still be nice.

I’d really like to see Tiffany get some depth to her character. Ox / Tiffany hook up would be a good read.

Anybody else notice what large ears Ox has?

IF she is attracted to Ox. Her normal demeanor is flirtacious, so it’s hard to tell. But, while she strikes me as a girl that can handle the Leslie’s of the world, she is also the fairy princess that likes the White Knight that comes riding in to the rescue.

Is Ox a football player? It would sort of make sense for cheerleader Tiffany to go out with a football player.

A hot woman can end up with a less attractive man. This is because there is more to attraction than appearance. On an evolutionary basis the man has different things to bring to the table. Beauty in a women is generally synonymous with her ability to produce healthy babies where as attractiveness for a man falls more frequently on the ability to protect said baby and mother. So protectiveness and strength are traits that will be very attractive on a instinctual level just as symmetrical appearance and a hip to waist ratio of .7 are instinctually attractive to men.

You better not be talking about Ox, pal, ‘cause he’s actually smarter then he appears to be, and he was also able to take Ann Eiffel down a couple of pegs a while back.

I don’t see why everyone automatically thinks this has to turn into a love story. Might be nice to see another side of Tiff and how she is with a new friend.

I’m thinking that this Lesile character is going to pull the strip into a dark story line for a bit, and as a PP said I think Tiffany just uses her “beauty” and “shallowness” as a shield.

This looks GREAT! Tiffany needs somebody to be her foil, that won’t take attention away from her, is rich, and has a good heart. Ox is no simpleton; he sees things very clearly. Remember, he thought Ann was pretty until he saw her in action; I think Ox will be good for Tiff, and vice versa.

Looks like a perfect match to me.

Looks like something real is happening between these two. I think some time down the line Ox is going to ask Tiff out she will say “YES” for selfish reasons but they will kiss and Tiff will ‘change from a frog into a Princess’ and she will have deep feelings for Ox, and gradually Luann will believe her and their “cattiness” will become more friendly.

Tiff & Ox will never happen … or will never last. Ox is too nice.

i think there is more to tiff than meets the eye.. hey she’s only a teenager, still developing. and same with ox. i think they could be good for each other.

Some of the posters here seem to think Ox is “brain-dead” or dumb. I have never seen anything in this strip showing that. Where do you all come up with this characterization of him?

I think this is setting up dispute between Ox and Leslie more than Ox and Tiff. This is at least the second time Ox has shooed off Leslie.

Almost a pity Leslie took off so soon.He needs to learn how real friendships start.

Some here are judging Ox on his looks alone. He’s humble, honest and kind on the inside And then there’s gorgeous Tiff, pretty on the outside, and totally shallow on the inside. Gee I don’t know, who would you sooner have as a friend?

And I think Tiff and Ox together would make a great story. And maybe Tiff could become that kind, honest, humble person by being with someone like Ox. Bring it on Greg, and let’s see where this goes.

Sad, but true…

Leviticus has a point. When you consider how much pride Tiffany puts into being beautiful, she is now seeing the down side of it. Namely, that it attracts undesirables.Ox may not be considered handsome (neither is Leslie!), but he makes a much better friend.

I’m willing to bet that Les takes after his father.

“Am I the only one who thinks Tiffany and Les deserve each other?”-Probably not, but I don’t see why she should “deserve” someone who would just bring her down. She needs lifting up, growth as a human being.

Ox is not brain dead, he is actually one of the smartes people in the school, he is just slow of speech. And Tiff, for all her faults is also not brain dead, she just chooses to use her gifts for evil instead of good.

It just might work.

Excellent points, Leviticus.It all remains to be seen about Tiffany. I STILL don’t trust her.And I will bet a FRESH Can of Coffee that as act of “friendship” Tiffany will somehow try to “remake” Poor Old Ox into something he isn’t. Kinda Like she tried to do with Gunther sometime back. And Most of Us know how THAT deal turned out.

Actually Tiffany hasn’t realized she is much like Leslie. She latched on to guys who had made clear they were disinterested in her, the most recently, Quill. She interrupted Quill and Luann, implanted herself between them or next to Quill, flirted with Quill in front of Luann, choosing to ignore his lack of responses to her attempts at seduction….Leslie was pretty much the same…except perhaps he was more “in your face” and blatant with words than she was.

Hearing a Time heard cliche` : Opposites attract. Still nice to think of these two pairing up.
