Heart: hang on a sec, kid! don't cry! But you can't follow me to class! Girl: could you please stop calling me "kid"? My name happens to be Eugena Victoria! Heart: Ooooofah. no wonder you're crying.
Eugenia Victoria was the name Scarlett and Rhett were originally thinking of. Mammy told Melanie Wilkes that when the baby was born. But while Rhett was cooing over her, and he noted what blue eyes she had, Melanie said “Blue like the Bonnie Blue flag.” And so Rhett was inspired to name her Bonnie Blue Butler.[Hattie McDaniel was truly a class act as Mammy. You won’t find the likes of her today.]
Hattie McDaniel won the 1940 Academy Award for best supporting actress in GWTW. She was the first “Negro” to win such an award, which was truly remarkable in the days of Jim Crow America.Award presentation

Call her “Genie” or “Vicky” or “Torie”. Don’t call her “Eugie”.

That was the first thing I thought of, Scarlett and Rhett’s daughter. Bonnie Blue isn’t much better for a nickname, though….

Must be fun to have to write that name on forms and tests and the like.
