OK,I think I know what an app is…it’s short for application, is that something you download to do something else? Does it cost anything? Is there anything I want to do that I can’t do without one?

I was so afraid we wouldn’t get to see Pauly’s face…Thanks, panel six….

I’m surprised that Flo would put up with so many rude folks in her diner.

She could have refilled their coffee cups with anything now, couldn’t she?

APPropriate…we don’t need no stinking cellphones, have not had one for 7 glorious years…AT&T phone in beige on the wall where it belongs….

Do what I did. Completely avoid techmology.

Though I may have a cell phone, I use it as a phone only. I ain’t got no bloody apps and don’t want any either.

What Flo wants isn’t an app, it’s a nap.

I never cease to be amazed at the people who spend every waking minute staring at their palm and the glowing device in it… “scrolling” the screen or “pinching” it to make the text and pictures large enough to see and read. They become oblivious to everything else in their environment. And many of them further isolate themselves from everything else with earbuds and wires running from their ears to the device they’re looking at.

I’ll stick with my flip-phone. Use it for TALKING to people at appropriate times. I’ve got a TV, a computer, and a stereo for all the other stuff.

My little flip thingy has a phone app that I use to talk to people….handy as hell…..don’t use it for much else……no land line…watmiwori, don’t say anything about my little flip thingy!

An app to reject all apps? Don’t seem right, somehow …

I read this comic on my iPhone. On the road, and the local paper doesn’t have it. Nobody commenting here really “avoids technology”, although we don’t have to get every new thing that comes along.

I’m 60, and I am having great fun with my smart phone. But then I’ve been in a tech field all my life. Have had cell phones since 86. My wife, on the other hand, didn’t even want a camera phone, just a basic cell. Have to appreciate individuals and their needs.

Stupid computer has a life of it’s own. Somehow it pushed enter before I could type “use it”.

I said it before and I’ll say it again: I love technology. I really like my new smart phone too . . the Chicago transit app to track when and what buses/trains were coming was super slick . . . I also like being able to read the news while waiting for a flight in an airport. I think the big problem is that the technology is still relatively new that people haven’t adopted an acceptable code of behavior to pass on to the next generation yet. For example, most of us learned our table manners from our parents, who learned it from their parents, and so on. There isn’t an older, established generation who knows the etiquette to pass it down to a young generation yet. I’m curious to see how it will all shape out. Until then, I’ll still be trying to convince my parents that just because I have a cell phone doesn’t mean that they can reach me 100% of the time without fail . .

they interviewed Vin Scully on SUnday Morning today. The powers that be have added “trending”, “tweet”, and “Twitter” to the things they want him to add to his commentary. When he first was told about this, he didn’t know what it meant.

I’m with Flo. No more idiots on their phones 24/7, no more sheeple letting a piece of technology do all their thinking for them (other than what the pundits and talk radio hosts do as well), and no more “I have an app for that” remarks! The smarter tech gets, the dumber we get.

Strange place for such a bunch of Luddites.

Not for the first time, I wish I had directions to Flo’s.

I can tell that a lot of you are against technology taking over. I am, too. However, I love my smartphone and all of my tech gadgets. Me, I’m a news junkie so my computer takes me to news publications I could never get at home or at the local library. This gives me somewhat diverse points of view.I couldn’t get most of the comics I get here on gocomics either.My granddaughters introduced me to Skype.I was thinking how my great-grandmother would have thoroughly enjoyed Skype. She had children who lived in OK, GA, DE and NJ. They had 10 of her grands between them. Great-grandmother loved the phone calls from them and would have loved the video chat even more. Technology is like everything else in life. Perhaps most like seasoning. Some like a lot. Some like a little and some like none.

If I were to completely avoid all technology (computers included) I would miss out on Flo’s wisdom and Danae’s shenanigans….Nope sorry…no can do….life as I know it would cease to exist.

Back when I got my current phone – a “semi-smartphone” that has a few built-in apps but no ability to add new stuff except a few games – my brother blew up at me. According to him I didn’t need a new phone, and was probably going to “waste” (his word) a lot of money getting an iPhone or something similar. Flash forward to when HE hot HIS new phone and what did he get? The latest HTC Android phone which seems to be glued to his hand, particularly when the Red Sox or Bruins are playing and he needs to check the scores. Moral of the story? Luddites will remain Luddites until they find something they want.

Technology is great, but I think we are becoming too dependent on our little gadgets. Maybe it’s me, but I think computers are replacing old-fashioned creative thinking.

I love technology but I am stressed about how much time I spend reading various news items.
