And KA-SPLAM!! It’s another of Tom’s “prestige arcs” that will sure get him a Pulitzer this time! (We’ll find out somebody’s cat batted the pills under the fridge, oh how Ha Ha shall we laugh at this O. Henry ending on Saturday 11/16!) (Yeah I know Ed’s just having a REALLY BAD TRIP, MAN! It’s from the PILLS, MAN!)
The fridge has blue neon lights on its back. It moves on its own. It unplugs itself—yet still, IT MOVES. (This is Tom’s tribute to the feel-good movie “Requiem For a Dream”)
Could be a slam at rural NY county that tore a families home apart and seized a squirrel and raccoon then kill both because some Karen complained. And Batty may not want to get too critical of a blue state, so he did this. Peanut the squirrel is now a symbol of government over reach.
Y’know, I had read this strip about six times before somebody’s comment pointed out that in the last panel we see Ed is dreaming the whole business. This doesn’t make it any funnier, but it at least heads off the possibility that it is the beginning of a new “prestige” arc about the DEA and illegal searches and so forth. Phew!

Cute…but did Ed and family ever consider just pulling the fridge out themselves and cleaning back there? The filters must be covered in dust by now.
