Good morning™, everyone!

Lots of colourful action today! Of course, Tracy did bring the ring as many of us suspected. I wonder whether Thorin called his loyal armsmen telepathically or whether he just prearranged them to come, somehow. I guess telepathy makes a lot more sense.

I don’t understand the “thumbs down” gesture in the optional panel on the first row. Does anyone here know what that is?

I like that we see smoky silhouettes in P. 4. Man !  Shelley’s graphics are sooo good. Other than the predictable happening I would say today’s is a good installment.

Why Thorin and Tracy did not come to the hangar with their own armsmen to begin with?

What a surprise! I never would have guessed that Tracy brought the ring.

TRACY IS A MAN ON FIRE!!!

Tracy came prepared “just in case”…he had the ring in case he needed defense, not offence…either way, Dick Tracy is prepared once again.

OK, is there anyone who didn’t see that coming?

So … when the arms men pressed Tracy flat against the wall (August 26) they never noticed the ring on Tracy’s left hand (we could just see Tracy’s right hand). Funny how the bad guys always make that one fatal mistake….

Now the running begins. Let us see how fast Ro-Zan runs. And who’s blocking his path? Mysta who is not in the romantic mood. :)

I think it was Tracy’s intention all along to stun them, not kill them.

A little more power and they would have all been dead ringers…

Love the first two official panels. It reminds me of the old tv shows with the carry over of the end of the cliffhanger episode at the start of the next episode.

So apparently Dick and Thorin came here with separate completely-offpage plans to handle this situation (i.e. an armed revolution by a would-be genocidal tyrant) without informing the other what they intended to do. And both of their plans fall apart instantly if things don’t play out EXACTLY like they did right here. Good grief.

Roman Emperors would give the thumbs down gesture in movies as to indicate whether or not to spare a life but I don’t know whether that is historically accurate .

Tracy is a Green Lantern, now.

As I wrote about in the last couple of days, I don’t have any real problem with Tracy bringing the ring along, even though we didn’t know about it. As Neil and others have pointed out, Tracy did not entirely trust Moon Gov.

I do wonder, however, about the effectiveness of the ring in this situation. With no less than 6 armsmen firing at the two victims, what are the chances that all that energy would concentrate down to a spot so small that Tracy could reflect all of it back like that? Wouldn’t some of the “zap” slip past the ring? (If this whole thing were real anyway, that is.)

This morning lots of casual readers who never heard of THE RING are not only disappointed, but very confused….

Very cool images today , I’m noe to crazy about the way this cartoon has been depicted lately , but todays images and colors are just " beautiful " : )

and the Bribering makes it’s long-expected appearance, no surprise there, but I want to hear Dick’s explanation eventually as to why he even brought it along in the first place…… and today’s strip IS very colorful, I’ll give it that… well, one more week of a wrap-up of this and then back home for Dick, Mysta and Honey and we can get back to some real crime and detecting/sleuthing hopefully and the band all gets back together again…

we actually have that wrong: to be given thumbs down in Roman Coliseum meant your life was spared – thumbs up was death penalty (rarely used as they were the pro athletes of the day)

Well, in movie and TV depictions of Roman gladiatorial games, it is a signal to kill a defeated gladiator, as opposed to a thumbs up signal for them to live. My understanding is that that isn’t really how it worked, but is based on a misunderstanding of a written record. Nonetheless, it is obviously supposed to mean, “Kill them.”

I missed something. When was this ring ever referred to before, and how did Tracy get it?

I said earlier that the ‘armsmen’ were more like ‘armsbots’. Now it looks as if a more accurate name is ‘fingerbots’.

2-…upon finding that it’s not there, he remembers that he had a ring made out of Wonder Woman’s left bracelet – a gift after a night of passion. Tracy had a red ruby placed in the ring to symbolize that passion. As the Armsmen’s Death Zap slowly approaches, TRACY REACTS!

So from what I am seeing today, the ring served as a shield? Must be one of its qualities.

Everything must have been pre-arranged…Tracy did not exactly restrain Thorin. But let him go charging at Ro-zan. He took one heck of a chance. This storyline would have ended differently if the ring did not work.

Oh heck…Ro-zan is getting away. Mysta will use her powers to fix his wagon.

Well played Tracy, give those clowns a dose of their own medicine, I wonder what Ro-zan will do now that he has no lackeys to send out to fight?

One comment about ‘the ring’ that I don’t think has been mentioned yet is this—what I find rather neat about it is that it is a weapon of defense as opposed to offense, really. It only works if you are being attacked, so it is always used in self defense and its user is never really the aggressor. :)

I would like to see some explanation as to how the ring works, and how Bribery knew how to make it. As to the improbability of Tracy’s and Thorin’s escape, that has always been part of Dick Tracy. Even Gould had improbable narrow escapes for Tracy in the days of Flattop and others.
