These guys are really doin’ it ! Tracy finishing up an interview, with a brief events cap by an employee to Sam, and then Dick and Sam starting for their next crime scene comb over.
Great security you’ve got there, Argos. A killer can get in, shoot an employee with a gun that doesn’t have a silencer, & get clean away without anybody seeing or hearing anything, They probably don’t even have security cameras. But, as others have mentioned, it’s great seeing Tracy & Sam doing some actual investigation again.
While Tracy and Sam check Anders office, one of them can see if his office phone has automatic redial. Then they can find out who the last person was that he spoke to.
Where was security when the employees needed them? Just like crime dramas and westerns, the “calvary” always comes in long after the action has taken place.
Well, I’m out of here for probably three weeks to a month. Animation is a huge interest for me, having once created and blocked out/scripted a first episode of series pitch for a competition a contact with the ANGRY BEAVERS team put me onto (it finished second and didn’t sell). I’ve now been asked to help lay out groundwork for a proposed series pitch and possibly come up with a story or two ‘just in case’.
But, since I’ll only tokenly be following what’s going on here, I’ll give a shock reveal to the ending…
The Butler Did it with the aid of Atom Ant’s evil cousins, TNT Termite. Boomboom Beetle and Wascally Worm.
I’m presuming that Tracy’s wrist device is shown being active is because he’s using it to record the staff’s statements. Another useful feature packed in the Smith Industries Police Wrist Device, version xx, still in prototype. but patented?
I DID think for a minute that Ms. Exotic, the receptionist, might have been the killer, but I discarded the idea, as I went back to the installment where the killer appeared and the hand holding the gun is looks to be a man’s hand…
1-RECEPTIONIST: Surely you can’t believe that little ol’ me had a hand in this? Why I would just die from embarrassment if you did, Detective Tracy! DT: No, no! Of course not. You just put that thought out of your head now… 20 minutes later…
2-DT: I’ve drilled…grilled the Receptionist. She’s innocent.
THE KILLER: I was just walking by when I thought I’d come in and make an appointment for a tune up. I of course insisted on seeing the owner, as a responsible car owner is wont to do, and when I went into his office, I found him dead from a Smith & Wesson 45 caliber shot fired from a distance of 3 feet. SAM: OK. Thanks.
3-SAM:WE didn’t shoot him before we left for lunch did we? I forget. DT: I don’t think so. Did we have lunch yet? SAM: I don’t think so…
As I’ve said, you always meet your boss alone and after midnight so some nasty honest person doesn’t overhear you. Anders was expecting a different kind of payout, plane ticket included.
Apparently, the receptionist (person of color—not sure what she is suppposed to be, in green dress, panel 1) did not leave Argos the other [readers’] day after all; nor the bald person of some managerial rank in panel 2. So, the shooting and killing (?) of Anders ought not to have gone so unnoticed, unless the hitter was quite familiar with Argos and knew how to get in and out undetected by on-duty staff. —I guess that’s included in Sam’s remark about “interesting timing,” though he is also referring to when the shooting took place in relation to all the situational timeline….

Well, it looks like we can definitely call Mr. Anders out. Congratulations to Tracy for investigating the scene of the crime.

If his landline phone has one, hit the redial button to see who he called and talked to last.

She is still wearing the same clothes. Can’t speak for the other person talking to Tracy and Sam. Maybe they were out for lunch.

Okay. The zappies had me confused for a moment. That’s just the wrist gizmos recording evidence.

I hope this is covered by Worker’s Compensation since he was on the job at the time. OSHA should be on the scene shortly.

Where’s the REAL CSI team? Shouldn’t they be cleaning the room, looking for any extra stuff?

A zoom-out of panel 3 would reveal the full-length mirror in which Sam is admiring his sartorial splendor….

stupid thing to notice, but in panel 2, Dick’s hat seems too small for his head, while in panel 3, it doesn’t look right, either…
