I’m still wondering who Tracy’s friends is, but it seems we are not going to see him or her, at least not yet. At least we are finally getting back to “Susan,” but it seems she’s planning to go back to the country. Nevertheless, a lot can happen in less than a week of the strip characters.
Er, since they have narrowed down the location of Ander’s killer to a specific section of Tracy Ville, they could try using MCU computers to see what businesses are located in that district, & if any of those businesses would use the type of high-tech equipment that Argos sells. Might be a bit less of a needle-in-a-haystack approach than 1) trying to find where exactly that small piece of stucco is from, or, 2) trying to locate Tracy’s friend who doesn’t seem to have a home address.
Many years ago at summer camp, I read a book about swimming and boating safety. In addition to wearing lifejackets, the boating safety rules included never stand up in a boat, never overload a boat, when capsized, stick to your boat, etc.
It’s so hard for a stucco expert to find work nowadays, so Tracy’s friend lives in a rundown neighborhood. Actually, he said “It’s where he hangs out,” so that means the guy is homeless. He’s not there now because he is out panhandling in a better neighborhood.
Can we talk about the excellent artwork in today’s strip ? This is true comic ART ! The old buildings and street scenes and how Dick and Sam are diffused behind the auto glass . The middle left panel with its detail , shading and perspective is great . I love good comic art and Shelley Pleger delivered the goods today .
I can’t remember if I have mentioned the Oscar-winning “Nomadland” during this storyline, but it reminds me of the fact in that movie the lead character (played by Frances McDormand) was about to start a temp job for the upcoming busy season at Amazon – something that they did actually did in real life, with Amazon’s encouragement. I wonder if Sabrina thinks that “Susan” is such a nomad.
I’ve forgotten the name of the girl with the light brown hair since I haven’t seen her for over a month (June 8th). I don’t have the energy to re-read this confounding story to refresh my memory. I just know that with a third writer coming on, expect the confusion factor to rise.
It’s not apparent to me who Tracy’s friend is that hangs in that run-down “dead zone” neighborhood. One of his snitches, I suppose; but Pouch, who first comes to mind, prefers the park, and I cannot name another who’d fit in here.
Meanwhile, elsewhere (in the scam call center), Sprocket (known here as “Susan”) is ready to bail, fortunately for her, as the po-po are almost in a position, it seems, to raid the joint and shut it down. Too bad, with her expertise at the spiel, learned from brother Silver (incarcerated, as we saw long ago at the start of this maeandering plot), Sabrina can’t persuade her to stay….

Busy hands are happy hands. Call center brief diversion
While Austin does his meets and greets. Book tour excursion.
Sprocket skilled at tossing bull, her brother taught her well
Those who pick up on her calls say sweet voice sure is swell.
Casual yet rhythmic. Musicality’s allure
Closes deals sans a hard sell. Persuasive connoisseur.
All good things come to an end. Time soon to go home
Sprocket has no earthly clue that no more shall she roam.
Comfort and complacency. Forgets crime does not pay
Soon a cell shall be her home at close of every day.

Sprocket could just set up her own in the basement of the lakehouse. A little extra foldin’ money for shoes. Er, um, for sunglasses. That’s it.

If Tracy’s friend hangs out in this area, he has it to himself. Could pass off as a set for the Walking Dead series.

Judging from that boarded up block,Tracy’s expert is a criminal informant who doesn’t want his address popularly known.
Looks like the place Mrs.Pruneface brought Dick in 1943
