Well, some thought we’d never find out how the poison was administered, so it’s good that we got an explanation. The fact that Johnny is conscious is also good.
I really like the way the three characters were included in the middle panel—very 3-dimensional.
You can sense a real connection between Tess and Johnny and her gratitude that he is still with us. Johnny looks worn but grateful nonetheless. At the risk of a beatdown… I like the coloring on this one. Did we get a new M.C. ? LOL ! ;-p
Technically, sarin is a toxin, not a poison, which usually kills people within minutes after exposure either on the skin or through inhalation. If Fata was actual using sarin to kill her victims, & not a “poison similar to it” she would have needed to be wearing a hazmat suit to protect herself.
Johnny: well, a potential client came in. She dropped her pen on the desk. It was about to roll it, I went to catch it, then my bell got rung and my lights were turned out.
Antidotes for sarin are atropine and pralidoxime chloride. They need to be administered quickly to be effective, and fortunately the highway congestion didn’t keep Tess from arriving in time.
But, as I pointed out yesterday, this had better not be the same toxin that took out PT – sarin is one fast acting poison. So we’d better not link the murder and attempted murder through the toxins used. Did the work Tess did on Pertwee investigation have any connection with PT, or were they working a different piece of the puzzle? (There are a couple commentators here who are sure to answer me on that question.) If it was connected to PT that suggests the possibility of a link and bears investigation. If the work Tess and Johnny did had no connection with PT then it might be a coincidence to have the MCU assume a connection (and we never see coincidence in the strip/<s).
Sarin, in concentrated form, is real nasty stuff. No cut needed. Get it on your skin and you’re toast. Or English muffin, if you live across the pond.
1-DT: Dang. My prostate is still enlarged! You said those unlubricated prostate cucumber massages would shrink it! TESS: I guess we’ll have to go with something bigger – melons maybe.
2-DOC MARTIN: Do either of you know that Mexican fella? And if he has health insurance?
3-JOHNNY ROTTEN: It looks as though my only chance is a Liver and Kidney transplant. I know I can count on you to come through if we’re a match. TESS: Oh Johnny – you know as well as I do that your Mexican body would reject my Swedish organs!
JOHNNY: ??? You get your “Swedish genes” from a bottle of peroxide AND I’M NOT MEXICAN!!! TESS: You’re not? I no longer find you to be an attractive hot Latin lover! Good luck in the next life!
….I can’t share your enthusiasm today……I jut sat in a waiting room for three hours today waiting for the dealership to service my car……..the T.V. screen on the wall was running back-to-back “Three’s Company” episodes (the post-Suzanne Sommers ones with Don Knotts)…..thank God I brought along a book to read……..
“A poison similar to sarin” (emphasis added): it seems the Medical Examiner and staff did a very good job, identifying the particular poison and the place of intromission to Johnny Adonis, and did so quite speedily.
Tess’s “bedside manner” and Johnny’s gratitude are made very evident in panel 3.

Well the Tracy County ME office must be fast workers when it comes to toxicology reports. Didn’t Dick just tell Tess it wasn’t ready yet?

Adonis is thinking—“I get as far away from Dick Tracy as I can and my life is STILL in danger!!”&%&^%$&^$&$!!
Odd coloring in Panel 3—-Johnny looks like he inhaled yellow mustard gas.
And why isn’t Johnny hooked up to any monitors of tubes?? That one thin wire is probably just the “call button”.
