Well, I guess that’s the envelope that Mr. Smith found in his garage. It must have the picture in it I suppose, but he also noticed something that “looked legal and important” (https://www.gocomics.Com/dicktracy/2022/06/14).
Tracy says that the Grays have an adventuresome streak. Does that mean they are not willing to settle down as a family with a little girl?
the “just in case” tells me that they expect that something untoward may happen to them and they don’t want little Annie as collateral damage or take the chance that she might be an innocent victim of someone’s revenge against them…
I don’t know … seems to me if the Grays really have an “adventuresome streak” they might find more adventure as bodyguards for a globe-trotting billionaire than as FBI agents where they’d spend most of their time filling out paperwork or sitting in a cold basement listening to wiretaps on low-level mobsters who hang out in pizza joints. Meanwhile, the deterioration of Dick Tracy into a soap opera strip continues….
The Crime Stoppers content can’t be said oft enough that those who didn’t get it the first four times around will still have opportunity to eventually see it. All bets are off for them who don’t read the strip and in this day and age would be a lot less than back when DT was a REAL powerhouse force to be reckoned.
And don’t let your kids watch lockpickinglawyer on YouTube, where he’ll open different gun safes or trigger guards with a magnet, or a twig, or by jiggling them slightly. Opened one with a fork.
We’re gonna have a twist, right? He’s lying through his teeth and we’re gonna have an exciting Annie kidnapped and reunited with Daddy storyline, right?
Is that jewel actually a spy camera transmitting to someone who we then see watching and listening as DT and Warbucks ruin the poor couple’s cover story? Thus getting them offed and orphaning Annie?
Crimestoppers is NOT 100% accurate. This is a statistic skewed by inclusion on one end and heavy exclusion on the other. Saying guns are the leading cause of children’s death ONLY works if you take the CDC’s method and count from age 20 down….18-20 year Olds are NOT children and most of the high numbers come from here and involve gangs, robberies, drive bys, suicides (a very scary high number). When counting causes in actual children…age 0-17…. disease, blunt drama from accidents ( falling, bicycles, skateboards, ladders, steps), car wrecks vastly out number gun shot fatalities. I am NOT saying give a kid a gun freely or anything, but honestly discuss the situation. When I was a kid, my parents taught me to mind, be responsible and do right. Then they answered my curiosity about guns. Allowing me to see them, and after being carefully unladed and rechecked, taught to safely handle them incase I had to. We were farming cou try and guns were every day tools for food gathering, pest control Anda couple of times robbery prevention. From age 4 I was trained about dangerous things on a farm and in the home. If I wanted to see or learn something…just ask…don’t go took away the “forbidden fruit” aspect of them and they became like a broom. No kid is really interested In a broom until there is actualneefor one. I was hunting with my dad from age 6. Had my 9wn rifle at age 12.shotgun at 16and was given a handguns my dad the day I left to graduate school.
IFf we returned to common sense instead of freaking out due to unfamiliarity, gun shootings that are accidents would greatly reduce and hopefully sense would keep people from the evil use
I got a feeling that “in the event…” They wanted Warbucks to oversea the care of Annie…Do you really think Mike is going to screw with us? I mean he went through all of the effort to establish that Warbucks officially adopted Annie one of the last times we saw them in the strip.
IF that’s the envelope that Garage Guy found, and if it contains something “just in case,” wouldn’t we hope that it contains more than just a photo of Harold and Winnie? Is Lawyer Bob holding something back?
rather than get nasty-Toler about this, I think t hey were asking Warbucks to look after Annie in case anything happened to them—-only the request got “lost in transit”.
As for bodyguards, I think Warbucks eventually found a couple.Mutt and Jeff team—-but don’t call them that to their faces,

Good morning™, Pending Adoptions !
Looks like Annie’s transfer is in the works.

“The will we filed with the attorney makes sure that if anything happens to us, our little girl will be cared for.”
“I still wonder about hiring a lawyer from an ad on the bulletin board at a gas station.”

BTW as an aside, gun trigger locks are given away in a lot of police stations, here anyway.

Warbucks’ jewel is rather prominently displayed. I wonder if it’s a camera/recording device?

So, does that eponymous ashtray mean Warbucks was a resident of Hotel Siam back in those long(?) ago days too?

Bob Smith didn’t have much of an office staff if he stored his legal papers in the garage and forgot about them for ten years.

1-DADDY-O: TRACY! You haven’t sat down since you got here. Sid-down! – ya bother me!
2-DT: Can’t. Hemorrhoids – the Policeman’s Lament.
3-DADDY-O: I could try to burn them out with this cigar if you want. DT: Hmmm. Let’s do it!
4-MEANWHILE, ELSEWHERE, IN THE MEANTIME, INZWISCHEN HAROLD: We got any stamps? WINNIE: Yeah – over there. HAROLD: Over where?
WINNIE: WHERE I’M POINTING, DIMBULB! HAROLD: Oh. Thanks.

If this decision is the one that made Annie an orphan, I sincerely doubt it was the right one.
