The plastic thing is unreliable. I use a wired probe thermometer, Polder. I put it between thigh and breast and set the base unit to 170F. Perfect all the time. As to 170F, I’ve always done that and just found out that Butterball recommends 170F too. Cook breast down for a juicier bird. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!! Eat Hearty!!

I’ve been using Broiler bags for 30 years. Perfect bird every time. Sometimes so tender the leg bone pulls right out of the drumstick.
