What are they doing? No. If you pop out the hinge pins, you can take the door without having to unscrew the hinge mounting plates from the door or unlocking the door. These guys are amateurs.
We didn’t remove doors. We printed huge sheets of images of a brick wall, and taped them over a door. It looks like you have have been walled in overnight.
This house has several different kind of hinges, and they were all painted over when the doors were painted instead of doing it right. Hubby has gradually replaced about half of them. It will be another inside winter project.
One night some of the guys at my school thought it a good idea to unhinge the door to the faculty lounge to get at the case of beer rumoured to be there…
Picture if you will 3 or 4 already half-in-the-bag mopes banging about with hinge pins in the dead of night…
When they dropped the door (BANG!) and entered, they found one of their profs snoozing blissfully away in the Comfy Chair!
Rev. B was a famous insomniac who could often be found wandering the corridors at any hour. Luckily for our hapless B&E crew, Fr. B. was also known for falling out sometimes for a full day or more when he finally settled.
i wish i could’ve seen their faces as they reassembled that door!
They did a thing in my dorm called “penny-ing in” where they would lean against a steel door and shove a stack of about five pennies in the gap between the door and the door frame, thereby locking you in your room. Dangerous? You bet. We once did it to an RA who locked himself and his girlfriend in the common showers/bathroom once on a Saturday morning (forcing everyone on the floor to go to another floor to shower or use the toilet) so that they could have some private time. Bad idea dude. They were stuck in there for hours until they got the attention of another RA walking by a window facing the outside of the dorm to let them out.
When I was a freshman, several of us moved all of the furniture from a second floor dorm room to the basement while the two roommates who lived there were in classes. We arranged the furniture in the basement just as it had been in the dorm room. When the two guys returned, one of them seemed to think the whole thing was pretty funny, and the other guy acted outraged. Of course, it was the latter reaction that we were all hoping for. And, of course, we moved the furniture back to their room.
What goes around comes around.
One Saturday night a while later, I returned to my dorm room after seeing a movie on campus, only to find one of those guys (the outraged one) using my room for a party. If I remember correctly, he was using my room because his roommate was studying in their room. I wouldn’t have minded the uninvited party in my room so much if someone hadn’t spilled a bong on my bed…
Warning – this comic pushes ads and they don’t screen them for phishing or other harmful behaviors. One dropped on me earlier. Bad website, bad. Now go sit in the corner and think about what you did.
I went back to see where this story came from. But, except for a Sunday comic on Oct 6 (two of the guys buying fruit & veggies!), Michael’s not been up since early Sep as he took the bus back to school. So this story starts right in the middle.

Some people never grow up! And is that a co-ed dorm? Looks like a girl is peering in the open doorway.

No way would I have ever slept through that. And if he doesn’t have a roommate, he’s lucky.

Apparently those two doofuses never heard of just pulling out the hinge pins.

Michael said “Snork” in fourth panel. Was he thinking about a Hanna-Barbera cartoon of undersea creatures that was shown in the 1980s?

April sure got big in the fifth panel!

Why does one of the guys stealing the door look like Mike’s Uncle Phil?

Hope that Mike isn’t aunatural under those covers

Mike is a sound sleeper. When I was in college (and ever night since) the noise of the key in the lock and the door opening would have awakened me.

That is nothing. Check out the “blanket party” scene in Full Metal Jacket.

I knew there was a reason I made sure to attend a college within commuting distance of home. Took one look at a dorm while touring and … NOPE.

Surprised that Michael has not taken advantage of being away from Elly for so long that he has not tried to get the beard back.

I don’t remember doing anything like this in good old Campion Hall. I did enjoy those days, though.
