Actually, that phone could end up anywhere but home. My meds arrived at post office a mile or so away, but then was incorrectly routed to a town 100 miles away. No telling where the phone will end up.
Dinkytown had a thriving folk music scene in the late 50s and early 60s. Dylan lived there and was part of it before he came to New York. It gets tourists.
Dinkytown is a neighborhood adjacent to the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis Campus, more specifically the East Bank Campus. Thus, located in southern Minnesota!
Dinkytown! It’s in Minneapolis, for anyone wondering. It’s near the University of Minnesota campus and consequently very full of students. If she had sent the phone there, it could have had a very interesting journey, given the propensity for prankery among undergrads. ;-)
Everything everyone else said about Dinkytown is true. But the most important thing about Dinkytown is Andrea Pizza (corner of 4th and 13th). Trust me.
I love this comic for the learning and the humor. First it was “callipygian” then ideas, now geography of Iowa (I only knew of Boulder Colorado, which doesn’t require traveling to Des Moines, Iowa).
Dang – I felt like I could have written this strip today. We’ve done the drive from home in Colorado to family in MN so very many times. AND I’m a UofM alum, so I know Dinkytown very well. Miss those Annie’s Parlour burgers and malts.
Boulder is great. Pearl Street is loaded with great bars and restaurants. Boulder dispensaries were my first taste of legal Colorado weed, that sure took me back to the 70s. Des Moines only has gas stations called who’s name is apparently on the Gocomics banned list.

I went to HS with a girl who went on to college there. She summed the place up with “Quaker Oats.”

Des Moines is a lovely city, actually. For the record. I’ve been there many times.

Somebody get Mallett a map. Minneapolis may be north of Detroit but south of the entire UP and barely 1/4 of the way “way up” in MN.

GoGDaM. I do enjoy Frazz! Thanks Jef Mallett.

Why is this kid walking around instead of being grounded until at least after the phone returns?

I had a history teacher who would always use “Puppys Butt, Kansas”.

Fortunately Iowa is quite some distance from Michigan.

Sometimes you have to suffer through Boulder to get to Des Moines.

Mailing someone’s cellphone is almost an unpardonable offense. Have a good day my friends.

You can avoid Des Moines if you start on the west coast or in the south. But why would anyone want to go to Boulder?
snappyboy over 2 years ago
I’ll start; you got to suffer through Carle Place to get to Westbury.
