Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for June 04, 2015
Transcript:
Luann: "Maybe we should talk about what we're both... uh... comfortable with" Quill: "Good idea. Don't wanna play lifeguard win the heat of the moment" Quill: "Ok, so no high dive. What about the low dive? The shallow end? The kiddie pool? A garden hose?" Quill: "Slip-n-slide?" Luann: "Ok, maybe drop the water analogy" Quill: "Squirt gun? Luann: "Quill!"

Ew! Quill is nasty.

Squirt gun? That may be the rudest double entendre ever essayed by the Evans team. Funny though.

it cooled the tensions a little though.

Ok – finally signed up to this thing… have been reading the comments for weeks, but had to jump in.

Quill, if you’re going to make with the sexy talk, “squirt gun” really isn’t going to put the right image in her mind.

I’m sure Qulll will happily point out he has the finest length of garden hose that was ever sold at Sears. :P

To me, it’s obvious that all the way hasnt happened – but as an aussie, get confused by the bases terminology so not going to specify that
http://xkcd.com/540/
And to those that said it wouldn’t have stopped there – well it does happen (and sometimes it IS the male who is the one to decide not to go there … I don’t know, maybe it’s an Aussie thing.lol)
Final comment at the moment, regarding the Gunther / Tiffany part of the arc (because I think the current one and that are interlinked)… How did Gunther get home? I can’t recall seeing any comments about that, but do recall that he was going to get his mum to pick him up. That could account for part of the lateness of his return.
Personally, looked like Tiffany and Gunther have shown some growth in character in the last month.

Get back on track, Quill — lickety split, mate!
kenhense over 9 years ago
Quill is keeping it funny – a good way to help Luann see that if she worries too much, she won’t have any fun. Without going X rated, Evans could just have Luann smile and turn out the light again. Then a new arc for a while.
kenhense over 9 years ago
Quill is joking to help Luann see that she is taking it too seriously. Without going X rated, Evans could just have Luann smile – and turn out the light again. Then next day – a new arc.

Just trying to figure out the difference between the high dive and the slip and slide.

Luann is Greg’s little girl grown up. I wonder how he feels about the sexual development of Luann.

Clever, Quill! Ratcheting down the hormone level with some humorous exaggeration-in-reverse and easing Luann’s stress-level….

I’m reminded of the funniest outtake from the movie “Grumpy Old Men”: “Takin’ the ol’ skin-boat to tuna-town.”

Seriously…. I cannot believe anyone here would expect or anticipate copulation to be actively portrayed in a comic strip that still has significant penetration (pun intended) in tangible newspapers across the country. I still think that the portrayal here is quite realistic of what a sizable number of college students do in regards to sex and intimacy at their age. Not every 18 year old lacks the self-discipline and/or impulse control to think through decisions carefully before proceeding…. regardless of elevated sex hormone levels. Bland Quill is actually making moderately funny euphemisms today. I am a bit surprised.

If I had been first on the comments list, mine would have been, “Aaaaaand let the double-entenders flow like… well, that’s been overdone…”

Quill’s penchant for water-based sex euphemisms suggests some… disturbing possibilities about his preferred kinks.

First it was the nerd and the glamour girl, and now Luann and Quill. I think the topic is getting too risque for a family newspaper. When are the firefighters going to get married?

He is responding and telling her what he would be comfortable with..That’s good. She wants him satisfied..Note the sequence that he suggests would do that.

Only two days left in the week— and two mighty events need to occur.1) Qu needs to go home and be prodded by Gunther, “Oh, so something DID happen.” “Want to talk about it?” Just like Qu did to him.2) The camel re-enters the scene.

I am liking Quill better. I can’t tell if Luann is uncomfortable or enjoying his joking a little.

RB2… I can agree with you certainly about the idea that the “sex arc” really should not have happened. To me (and I think to some others… perhaps Dave 53, for example), it seems almost like an “After School Special” sort of endeavor, or a “Very Special Episode” sort of method which is usually a thinly veiled sort of PSA of one sort or another. And, they are usually either DULL, or so bad in some sort of way that they eventually become campy as the antithesis of what they were meant to portray. So, I am in agreement with you. I would rather had Greg not have this particular will they/wont they copulate arc…. because it is rather dull to me. I would have found an arc of Luann in more of her classes, or she and Quill just going to have fun in some other, non-“Very Special Episode”ish fashion a lot more entertaining. But that is just my opinion.

Quill wants to give luann a small “if” moment now!
mechaman over 9 years ago
Yeah, at his age, ‘squirt gun’ is apropos … glad Evans is writing the strip this way. It’s not realistic to make them either too loose or too prim-this is better, more real.

Luann and Quill have a sensible conversation about sex, but wild-man Gunther dives head first into the Tiffany wet tunnel.
