Sorry, but can’t understand how you reached that conclusion at all. We’ve seen absolutely no sign of Piro stealing tips meant for others, or inventing a charity to scam money away from people.

What little we know of Piro is that he is frequently in need of a place to crash. That doesn’t mean he’s a thief. I find Piro to be a much more interesting and sympathetic character than Les, and hope we see more Piro and a lot ‘less Les’….

I remember Jonah with light brown hair, though.

When I began looking at today’s strip and the first panel, my initial thought was Luann was in drag.

I was hoping we would see Uncle Al force Leslie to fork over the cash.

Jonah is less than thrilled to meet Brad’s mom. Things all seem to be about Jonah. Gives me the impression of being egocentric.

Yeah, it should be interesting, because most people think you’re a villain (although there’s no evidence) & they want you to give your child away to Brad and Toni.

Calling someone Kindred spirits is the same as saying they think the same, or behave the same. Piro neither behaves nor thinks anything like Les. Les behaves like a con artist, bully and thief and there is no evidence Piro is anything like that.

Since Mr. Reacher suggested Les and Piro could be ‘kindered’, Argy was making the (dis)connection that since Les has bullyish tendencies, along with “seedy, shady” appearances, and Piro, though ‘mysterious (and also let’s add prone to crashing)‘, wouldn’t seem to have such ways, then they may not seem so ‘kindered’, after all.

Let’s hope Jonah’s playing is better than his acting. At least, Shannon’s dancing should merit applause!

Wish I could wax poetic like IamJayBluE. This is a new development we did not expect, and I for one like the idea that Shannon is appearing, while Jonah strikes me as a handsome, somewhat diffident, dismissive young man. He was not that polite with Nancy for example,but that is a minor point probably. But in Luannverse a stone in the pond has all kinds of ripples, that can go in all directions, so all I can contribute is to lets see what these ripples affect.

Hmmmmm, jackreacher as in reaching for jack? I recall that old expression. Have not heard it in years though. There has been nothing on those two being kindred spirits, so that is reaching for jack.

I was wondering what he looked like.

Last night i had trouble w the site going on and off, but happened to be listening to “There is a rose in Spanish Harlem” and it struck me that an audience woukd “ahhhhh” if they did that song reapplied as a father-daughter song. I am wondering what father-daughter songs are out there.

7I am thinking this will be interesting if further pursued as the story arc. Here are some thoughts I have however:1. Is Mrs. DeGroot being sincere or sarcastic in her last statement of “Well, this should be interesting.”? I could see it reading both ways, and her facial expression to me does not give us a clue either. I am not sure how much background she may know or have about Jonah. With that said, we cannot even be sure what sort of impression Toni and/or Brad may have given Mrs. DeGroot about Jonah as well. 2. The fact that Jonah left his guitar in the car and that Shannon had to carry it in and remind him about it…. to me that reads as an ominous sign. My first thought was that this may be another example of a “drop and run” sort of arc for Jonah (sort of like the Halloween arc previously). For the sake of Shannon, I really HOPE this is not how the arc will play out.3. The fact that Shannon mistakenly used the word “duel” instead of “duo” also has me fearful that Greg may have used that word spoken by Shannon to foreshadow how the arc will proceed. Not that I thing Greg would not do a great arc in this fashion if that is how he wants the story to proceed…. I am just hoping for the character of Shannon, that the story arcs become happier, and less about her troubles or difficulties.

Ohhh, you made me think of the song with the chorus “Dance, little Jean, this day is for you. Two people you love stood up to say,‘I do’.” I do wonder if more on her mother is going to be revealed.

Interesting, because i could not help thinking of the old expression, “Reaching for jack” and it’s older version, “Reaching for jacks$&@” both of which mean trying to grab hold (mentally or physically) of something worthless or simply not there/not what it was thought to be.

BTW, the expression might refer to rabbit “pellets”. I shoukd probably see if i can find its origin.

Okay, i tried looking up the origin of the expression, but it must have been regional because the only thing i found was a British reference to 1971. I recall old people from my childhood who were probably born around a hundred years before then who used the expression, and certainly were not even around in 1971. Anyway, i realize now that not only is the name used probably from a novel, but the old expression was likely a regionalism. Despite that, i like how it intersects w there being no kindred spirit aspect to Piro and Les.

How fortuitous that Jonah should show up at the Fuse, with irrepressible Shannon in tow. I suppose he wants to be in the show to prove a point (since there is no pay involved, that we know of). I think this won’t go well….

I thought Jonah was very busy with his career. He certainly would not have time to donate to a show that does not have any prize.

At first I thought Luann ‘s new disastrous love interest, too. Then I thought about Tiffany and how she fawns all over anyone in show business. Tiffany would probably use her ’work experience with Luann’ and Shannon to try to get his attention. Along with her other attributes.

And now that Gunther has become more observant about relationships and character flaws, it could involve him, too.

It is disturbing that he left Shannon in the car. And that she felt the need to bring him his guitar-sort of caretaker-ish instead of taken care of.

Sun and chlorine bleach hair, too. Lounging around the pool instead of working. Maybe he is so desparate that even a local talent show is a chance to get discovered. Maybe he has heard something that we don’t know. Maybe that is where Uncle BigBucks gets his money and contacts instead of the mob.

Toni & Jonah – Twins? Same hair style and facial features, besides the goatee.

Remember the first guy in line with a guitar? Well, his name is “Mr. Teacher” and he discovers Jonah, begging to allow himself to teach and promote Jonah. Either that, or a “Dueling Guitars” episode.

This makes what— 35 entries? At 15 min. each, with 5 min between acts, this is turning into an all-day event!

The key here is that these two are NOT kindred spirits. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that Piro and Les have anything in common. Hopefully this case is now closed.

Wild guess. Jonah wins talent show, Mr Gray connects him with his Vegas buddies, and when he leaves for Vegas, Jonah will leave Shannon with Brad & Toni.

Oh, i think we are going to learn more about Shannon’s distant past, and suspect we have already met the person who can reveal it. That said, and having loooooooooooong ago stated what i suspect i will not repeat specifics. Why? Because if i am wrong (as all of us, including me) have been at time then it does not matter, but if i am right then i am not going to reduce the pleasure of the story unfolding. I will just say that if that guess is right then it coukd get complicated, and it coukd be complicated in either direction – good or bad.

My 2 cents worth (does your keyboard of a cents sign— mine doesn’t):*Piro and Les have much in commong1) They’re both men2) They’re both young3) They both seem to have a troubled background4) They both have dark hair4) They both are single5) They both live in Pitts.*In fact, the only thing that separates them is that Les appears to be a lying, stealing, scheming troublemaker whereas Piro may be an honorable young man doing something with his life. No other difference.

Luannfan, it just hit me. When i wrote “expression” did you think i meant “kindred spirits”? The expression I was discussing was an old regionalism where i grew up which reflected the avatar name the poster was using, as per earlier posts, not “kindred spirits”.
