It’s interesting to keep special knick-knacks, isn’t it?

Forgiveness.

Inserted today in between and tomorrow.

Yup! Being nice is not as much fun as the bottom line.

We now interrupt a broken family’s mother-son feud to bring you this sickly sweet lesson in forgiveness!

Why would Luann think that a treasure box she made when she was six years old have a wad of twenties in it? Why would she expect her 6-year-old self to have a real treasure? We have never seen Luann at this age, but it does make me wonder if Luann used to be a fabulously wealthy child and somehow lost the money to bad investments.

Pretty good contrast with a son and mother that taught all the wrong lessons, you think?

I think Luann’s a 19 year old in California. So yeah – now it takes a wad of twenties to interest her.

Cool. Frank has written Greg’s name. Hopefully, he has not forgotten his own…

It is so interesting what people value at different ages. The priceless treasure of a six yrs old compared to a 18 yrs old and a 40 something. What would you lock away in a box to treasure? (people are not allowed) And why is it that the more we treasure something the less we interact with it?

Oh yes. What me and the others as kids learned in Sunday School all those many years. Forgiveness. Another bit of morality that seems to be going by the wayside.

Actually, Lu, forgiveness is a lot more valuable than money! If you had a friend or family member whom you thought you would never see again, and lack of forgiveness caused you to not speak to the other, you are missing out on a whole lot of other treasures… money can buy you a meal (ritzy or simple, yet filling) but it won’t embrace or console you, when you are depressed. It can pay your way into an amusement park, but it won’t get that inside joke shared between two people, or joyfully share a laugh about that thing that happened, that day. A true friend or family member can do all of those things…

And even when you feel so wronged and hurt, deep inside, working towards forgiveness of someone helps you , healthwise (physically, mentally, emotionally). And, too, when’s the last time we may have hurt someone (whether we’re aware of it, or not)? …yup, forgiveness is a treasure, indeed….

Hey, if your blue smurff is made in the USA that is worth some money. Had a garage sale and was selling figurines like those, the collectors are looking for anything that was not made in China or Hong Kong.

I love pulling out the winter coats and finding money in them.

I agree with Armchair up there in the thread, the contrast between parenting from yesterday with Ann and Leslie, and Frank and Luann today is striking. I also, being a Luann Trufan # 1 per Ringo, and maybe others (Seismic where are you I miss you) feel Luann’s comment about the 20’s is just meant to be funny and rueful. A 19 or 20 year old kid would be interested in cash, being as broke as they are generally.

Very nice. Probably my favorite Sunday “Luann” in a couple of years. Nice to see Frank beating portrayed as a wise father, and not a “dopey Dad” as is so commonly the portrayal.

Maybe not, Luann… How old is that dime? I could be worth more than ten cents, depending on its year.

70 years ago I got hit in the head with a wood bottomed swing and ended up with a fractured skull. I now have a metal plate in my head from it. It wasn’t until a year ago a 2nd cousin of mine told me he was the one who jumped out of the swing and it flew back and hit me. I looked him in the eye and said" well Dallas I forgive you.!"

Public Warning: We are in great danger of a new arc tonight. The biggest rhino in the room maybe ever is what the “lingerie party” is going to be. The Evanses have had us on a string for a long time – must be fun – for them. If a new arc – I hope at least it’s about Gunther & Tiff – or else Luann and Tara. Please don’t bring us one about Shannon wanting Brad & TJ to build a tree house…

I remember being wrong once. It happened when I thought I was wrong, but it turned out I wasn’t.

Alas, you have raised such a venal daughter, Frank! Where did you go wrong?
