I don’t believe there will be a reward forthcoming from the proprietors since there was no money recovered.AND Luann seems pretty sure of the benevolence that will be heaped upon her by her folks. I hope they enjoy that banana pie since it may be their only reward for quite some time.
….and Luann went right back to being a dummy again. Tara didn’t “run her off”; Stella got what she wanted and was already on her way out the door. And by reopening the building right now Luann is just drawing the authorities’ attention to the fact that the girls were inside the closed business in the middle of the night. And will her parents really be so pleased when they find out that the whole reason they even got robbed was because the door had been left unlocked? That already means their insurance company can deny any claims filed.
But sure Luann, you just sit there and eat pie, like a small child without a care in the world. Leave it to the adults to deal with the mess you created.
I know there have been positive views of how Bernice handled all this but I find her continuous actions with her phone are rather obnoxious. Maybe she just can’t handle the sight of blood? Depending on how this unfolds it will be interesting to see how she handles any police questioning, like, Why are you here?
Hopefully one more week on this arc to deal with explaining the situation to Frank & Nancy. I could see Luann falling all over herself trying to apologize, and meanwhile Nancy seems OK with Tara and it’s all good.
I don’t know, Luann….your parents might be upset. They will ask why Stella was there and why was Tara running after her. And why they were there after hours. They might be grateful that you girls know who robbed the place but might not be happy about the events leading up to the burglary.
I can imagine the artist showed this second frame to draw attention to the injury, but this isn’t great medical advice. If somebody has a busted knee, it is not good idea to act like a crutch and support them on the good leg side. Unless they hate hobbling on a good leg and love the pain of putting weight on the busted knee.
I think Luann is living in fantasy land. Her parents are going to be very upset with her for what she did. She put herself in danger as well as her friends and jeopardized their business. She’s definitely proven she’s not mature enough to have keys for The Fuse.
In what alternate reality did Tara “run Stella off”? Stella was already leaving the building of her own volition and Tara just followed behind, making funny noises and affecting silly poses. It’s not like Stella planned to stay in the building and hold these kids hostage. No way was she run off. She always had the upper hand. Calm down, Luann. It’s not a good idea to just make stuff up for the police. Do the Evanses think we’re just sheeple, willing to buy all this retconning? (And maybe Luann should apologize to Tara, and her folks, for leaving the door unlocked in the first place.) Ha! I can’t wait till this foolishness ends. Though I do admit it was kind of funny sometimes!
I really envy Luann’s confidence in her parents’ understanding. It’s a sign of the great relationship she has with them♡. And I’m sure she’s right. Frank and Nancy will understand and help Tara in some way ♡♡♡. Poor Tara, her family is probably very different from Luann’s. She doesn’t seem to have any faith in her parents and adults in general.
Ummmm I don’t think she will get an reward. Plus the parents are going to want to know why they were at The Fuse after hours and if Luann is not suppose to have keys to the place she has some explaining to do.
Letting Bernice talk to the “authorities” will get them all in trouble. IF the authorities show up. Perhaps after she gets done telling the police the story in triplicate & laborious detail Luann & Tara should be smart enough to say “ We have no idea what this nut is talking about. We’re just eating pie”.
The issue is how much cash was stolen? Clearly whatever bills were in the register were taken. Stella waved them. The only person who would know what was in the till after closing on that day would be TJ or maybe Nancy since she works the cafe now, but most likely TJ.
Luann is handing out pies to everyone, its the middle of the night, the place got robbed because she hid Tara in the Fuse and WTH is she doing with a key anyway? Make her pay by telling her she is helping slick by bussing tables until she pays her parents back. Unless of course the cops arrest them all for B&E and robbery
Las autoridades podrían preguntar a Bernice por qué hay tres chicas en la parte trasera de The Fuse a altas horas de la noche comiendo pay de plátano, si ninguna es propietaria o empleada, lo cual es muy sospechoso.
Everything has pretty much turned out the way I thought, with a few misdirection plays. I think that this arc will continue Monday, we have not heard from the DeGroots, and I think they will be more proud with Luann than angry with her, and a disposition of where Tara will live—is she still going to Utah—and whether Stella gets checked or will she still be out there. But I think the young women acquitted themselves quite well, all things considered.
I am not surprised that Luann thinks that eating some pie will make everything okay because she is, of course, a moron. Best to just admit it and move on. This story is going to chug to a clumsy stop with no real life repercussions whatsoever, just like the stories here always do. They might have a parade for the three stupid teens though…that would provide an opportunity for nice drawings. I do enjoy seeing this age group portrayed as they really are, vapid, self-centered, selfish and oblivious to the world around them.
Seems we’re skipping over unnecessary logic and drama with Tara’s injuries and going right into the parental/owner drama next week? Who will get there first, the ambulance and police or the DeGroots and Fuse staff (TJ, Ox and Tiffany)? I don’t believe Tara is safe until her cousin is in jail, but that could be the elusive carrot in front of us for years, like Ann Awful. Hmmmm
Bad form in showing how to treat a person in a hit and run. Don’t ever trust the victim’s opinion. Wait for the professionals. Keep them down and warm. Treat any obvious bleedings….
Meanwhile…Tara casually asked if Luann’s parents would agree to a reward. I think the whole thing was a scam. She’s won over Bernice (who was skeptical about her motives), she’s taken them all in. That last panel is a big fat clue about Tara’s real intentions.
Until it gets to the awkward question of what were all of you doing at the Fuse that late at night in the first place? Then to the second awkward question of why Luann let Tara stay in the back room of the Fuse instead of saying something to her parents?
I foresee the authorities coming, but no Bernice anywhere to be found. Instead, there are two girls in a building that’s supposed to be locked. Will guns be drawn? Maybe. But where’s Bernice? Has Stella come back to kidnap her, since she’s out there all by herself? Splitting up is probably not a good idea. Oh yeah, the girls definitely have some explaining to do. And Luann, sorry to say, is acting like a child who has no idea what real consequences are. Back door left unlocked? You can kiss any kind of payment from insurance goodbye. Tara’s hurt? Who’s gonna pay for that? Nancy and Frank, of course. She was on their property. Bernice has been kidnapped and left for dead somewhere? That’s good for another month of strips.
A week for the FD and paramedics to show up, not to mention the PD? I know its comic time here but still, when I call 911, the ambulance is here in less than 5 minutes. I wouldn’t be here typing if it had taken longer.
1) It can’t be Tara’s money the cousin got, because Tara is genuinely upset the De Groots were robbed (and Tara wouldn’t have that much).
2)Tara was clearly not in on it, and if getting run over doesn’t prove that, I don’t know what would.
3)The events we’re seeing are not taking place in a pandemic, and it seems like some people never do figure out that Luann-time works differently. You think if Peanuts was still doing new strips, Snoopy would be wearing a face mask? (Okay, fine, he’s a dog, he wouldn’t have to, but he’s a dog who imitates people, so he probably would anyway.)
4)The Fuze is a cooperative family venture, in a relatively low-crime area, and it’s not impossible to believe that somebody (TJ, most likely) left some cash in the till. Fictional people make mistakes, just like real ones. In any event, it’s more money than Tara would have, but probably not a fortune. Unless we find out next week it was.
Bernice will wait for the authorities because she’s afraid of being inside with Tara. She’s starting to get adult feelings that disturb her. Pru is gone, Rosa is gone, Crystal and Knute are gone, because they all realized that it was time to leave Kiddy World behind.
