Since we’re all waiting for Monday’s comic, I thought I’d ask for people’s opinions on this subject. (It was briefly discussed on Tuesday)

If the comic strip LUANN were to come to end shortly, would you want Luann to…

C) End up with someone else or someone new that she meets?

D) Stay Single?

A no-Shannon Sunday! What a twist is what I would be saying if this weren’t another “clean your room” strip.

Is Luann regressing or the writers…

Maybe if Luann moved out, got a job and stayed in a place on her own, that she had to pay for and maintain, then maybe she’d take better care of it.

And once again the Sunday comic goes for the low-hanging fruit. Is Luann ever gonna outgrow the immature “But I don’t wanna clean my room” gag that Evans keeps doing?

Luann should remember the famous saying, “When momma’s not happy, nobody’s happy.”

How come no one complains about Jeremy in ‘Zits’ when his room stays messy AND he dumps a year’s worth of dirty dishes in the kitchen and expects his mother to take care of that? How come no one complains when Chip in ‘Hi and Lois’ never cleans his room? Oh, wait. They’re GUYS. So it’s perfectly okay…

Cleaning her room would make her unhappy? First world problems.

A small Kubota tractor would take care of that mess quickly. Everyone happy, including the local Kubota dealer.

Luann should end up wherever she wants or with whomever she wants!

A college student being told they have to clean their room? She still seems immature for her age.

Interesting to see how Bernice appears to be there just to have fun watching Luann’s attempt while Puddles appears to be genuinely supporting her and saddened by her failure. Bernice is really a sister!

Time for the Girls to get their own place.

Parents should support their kid’s dream of living in filth, gradually becoming more and more disgusting until they become a toxic mess.

My wife listens to a lot of romance novels (audio books for the blind).

I have come to summarize them as follows:

„Happiness“ is defined as the woman getting her way.

„Unhappiness“ is the woman not getting her way.

Therefore, at the end, the woman finally gets her way.

Z.B.: Most Amish romances feature an Amish woman falling for a non-Amish man (also called Englisher). The entire novel then revolves around how she wants to remain Amish, but she still wants him!

Her sacrifices include the near constant threats of „shunning“ (an ever present danger for the Amish) and often being disowned by her family.

His sacrifices include, well, pretty much giving up everything 20th century to become an Amish farmer in order to marry her.

Almost invariably (at least among my wife’s favorite authors), the HEA is, yes, the boy joins the Amish church and marries her.

THUS, the woman gets her way – stays Amish and gets the boy.

Sorry for the long and bloated example. But when I read Luann’s comment today, that’s exactly what I thought: Luann can be happy only if she gets her way.

And Nancy said, to the effect, „No, you’re not going to be happy today!“

Honestly, the running joke about Luann’s dirty room is getting old. She’s an adult now, for crying out loud! There are plenty of potential punch lines around adults living in their parents’ home. She ought to have more responsibilities than her own room by now.

Is there no BOTTOM on the barrel of “Clean your room, teen-ager” jokes?? Jeeeez !!

Was Bernice in the military or does she just naturally stand “at ease”?

About time she learned some responsibility.

we’ve seen many panels with pictures of Luann’s messy room but i would say that the only real turn-off is the food dishes (not returned to the kitchen and washed). this means that Luann has assorted 6 legged friends, i.e. cockroaches and ants that keep her company.

Mom’s Unhappy. So is Luann. Bernice is kinda smiling.

Has Luann been immersing herself in Anselm’s ontological proof?

After all the complaints about Luann’s immaturity, I am not so sure Greg and Karen are listening. Luann’s messy room is not amusing. Why don’t we ever see her working or going to class anymore?

I am really baffled by people thinking that the Luann comic might end soon. If there’s some evidence of this, I must have missed it. Of course, it’s fine to speculate “What if”, but I have difficulty doing so when there’s no reason to, such as some hint that the strip will end.
