I spy Starry Night swirls in the background. And Luann, I am afraid he’s just gonna write down what you just said. As a tutor, you really should not give your own examples which they will simply repeat in their work. Draw them out instead, Ask how Vale thinks Van Gogh was inspired to paint Starry Night. That would point him in that direction where he has to ponder and come up with something.

You know where an assignment like this would really start? RESEARCH. Even skimming Wikipedia briefly provides an outline to use. And guess what: thirty seconds of research revealed to me that Van Gogh wrote hundreds of letters which have been preserved and are easily available online, which would be a tremendous asset for a write-like-the-artist diary project. And from the samples I checked, it doesn’t look like Van Gogh wrote things like that ghastly purple gibberish that just fell out of Luann’s idiotic mouth. Just godawful “tutoring.”

He doesn’t have to study or do any work. He is a football player they will hand him a degree in “General Studies”.

Vale’s helpless. Give up on him Luann. Let him stew in his own juices.

My niece tutored at the University of Florida. Her future husband signed up to be tutored (not cheap!) not because he needed tutoring, but because he wanted to meet her. Clever fellow.

Yes, that was the perfect example of what Van Gogh would write in a diary. Luann’s knows about his history and life and is using her acting skills to explain it. She’s good, but Vale’s reaction is suspect. He seems to find the explanation amusing and I don’t like his smile as he activates the camera. It’s usually forbidden to record videos at school, probably even during tutoring. This could create problems for Luann. But in some strange way, maybe this could make her want to act again?

Just do not get too feverish, there, Luann…

Well this guy just got really swarmy with the way he casually pulls out his phone and hits the record button. Hopefully Luann will lose her temper and set him straight on how tutoring is supposed to go. Then he can leave…forever. Unfortunately, Luann will probably get caught up in hearing herself talk and keep on giving him her theatrical examples. I don’t think Greg is drawing Vale. He looks like somebody else’s work.

I wonder if Luann is going to lecture him on doing his own work.

Luann reveals an unexpected eloquence, but Van Gogh’s diary is probably somewhat more mundane: “Gauguin is driving me nuts ! He never cleans up after himself ! The place is getting squalid with his dirty socks scattered about..and the empty wine bottles..Ma foi ! I wish he’d go to Tahiti – as he’s always threatening to. The Provençal winter is much worse than I expected. My work is not selling, either…”

This could be Greg’s recurring joke, like Lucy’s “Psychiatric Help – 5 cents” stand. Every so often a guest character shows up for a brief encounter and then moves on.
