When my sons were young, their orthodontist had a free video game in the waiting room. Each week they’d clear the highest score. A few times my son would tell me that he got the high score for the week. My reply? “I’m proud of you son!” We all laughed together cause they knew that achievement doesn’t go very far.
I never understood it. As a teenager looking for my first real job, I listed the paper routes I had in the past. Never got a job offer. I stopped listing the paper routes, and had three offers in two weeks.
