With all of racism out there… I figure we could enjoy a touch of humor to go with today’s strip.
“Racism was not a problem on the Discworld, because—what with trolls and dwarfs and so on—speciesism was more interesting. Black and white lived in perfect harmony and ganged up on green.”― Terry Pratchett, Witches Abroad
I think it very brave of Wiley to portray Adam and Eve as Blacks. Humankind came from Africa and this right the wrongs of the Christian interpretation of the Bible.
Wonder if the ten commandments were given then, or at least the first 4, would all the strife that has since followed not have happened? The rest needed a slightly larger population to work.
Black uniformed Federal Agents drive up in unmarked vans and snatch people off the streets and make them “disappear.” No warrant, no cause, just “we don’t like the way you look.” No Fourth Amendment. KGB and Gestapo tactics.
Do the Portland police have the authority to arrest these agents for kidnapping?
Remember boys and girls, the Republican Senators are the reason Trump is still in control. They chose party over people. Trump is their hero, their leader, their idol. GOP is the reason Nazism now rules America. Hiel Trump!
I’m not worried about the BLM “mob” who are coming after me as the Trump TV commercials depict, I’m worried about being snatched out of my own bed by Federal Agents in the middle of the night.
Hasn’t America become GREAT? Are we tired of winning yet?
Far too many “religious” people have blind faith in what they believe yet what the blindly follow many times tends to have far too much more to do with what someone tells them to blindly follow and is not about even close to the most basic tenets of religion. That’s where the human race for millenia has found much more hatred in and from religions more often than the love, sympathy, empathy, and charity that is at the true heart of most religions. Many “deeply religious” people pervert their faith when taught that fear and hatred of others makes them feel good more easily about themselves than learning about, understanding, and accepting others. We far too easily “except” when we should “accept” different people, different concepts, different viewpoints, and different interpretations.
Adam and Eve were tending the garden of the Anunnaki. They ate a fruit that changed their consciousness from animal to human. Before they could reach the eternal life fruit they were expelled from the garden. The Anunnaki lived for tens of thousands of years.
The last I heard, the jury was “still out” over whether the forbidden fruit was an apple or a tomato. The tomato, being connected to the “nightshade” family, was a more logical choice. Indeed the tomato was thought to be deadly until Col. Johnson announced that he would eat a tomato, also called the wolf peach, Jerusalem apple or love apple, on the steps of the county courthouse at noon. … That morning, in 1820, about 2000 people were jammed into the town square. … The spectators began to hoot and jeer. Then, 15 minutes later, Col. Johnson emerged from his mansion and headed up Market Street towards the Courthouse. The crowd cheered. The fireman’s band struck up a lively tune. He was a very impressive-looking man as he walked along the street. He was dressed in his usual black suit with white ruffles, black shoes and gloves, tricorn hat, and cane. At the Court House steps he spoke to the crowd about the history of the tomato. … He picked a choice one from a basket on the steps and held it up so that it glistened in the sun. … “To help dispel the tall tales, the fantastic fables that you have been hearing … And to prove to you that it is not poisonous I am going to eat one right now”… There was not a sound as the Col. dramatically brought the tomato to his lips and took a bite. A woman in the crowd screamed and fainted but no one paid her any attention; they were all watching Col. Johnson as he took one bite after another. … He raised both his arms, and again bit into one and then the other. The crowd cheered and the firemen’s band blared a song. … “He’s done it”, they shouted. “He’s still alive”

@ashtonsmith For a very interesting take on the role of the serpent in all this, read Harlan Ellison’s Hugo-winning novelet “The Deathbird”, anthologized in Deathbird Stories.
“Life. Death. Love. Madness. Environmentalism. Tragedy. What it means to be human. And an audacious reappraisal of one of our oldest myths. Harlan Ellison’s powerful, compelling, Hugo-winning novelet ‘The Deathbird’ has them all!”
Religion is made by people. It’s an attempt to monetize access to The Creator. Has nada to do with God. Science is real, of course: it’s the process of discovery. Is there more to learn or do we know it all, so we can be smug and adamant about the current stage of discovery? Science is, by its very definition, never complete, but always expanding and evolving. Just remember, when you die, go to The Light (just in case, lol).
Sort of like being blindly devoted to either political party, voting for the same idiots over and over again and expecting different result, vote out the career politicians, they’ve proven time and time again they are only in it for the money!
Looks like Portland Oregon lately, now that Trump’s Gestapo has invaded downtown to “protect federal property.” Shooting a peaceful and unarmed protester in the head or snatching unprovoked people in unmarked vans and holding them without charges or explanation for hours.
