I have long been an advocate of “natural consequences”. The natural consequence, at our house, of a kid not keeping their room clean (or messing the common space) was to simply use that kid’s room as the place to put dirty dishes, clothes, etc. “Hey, you don’t mind a dirty/messy room, right?”
Seat belts, speed limits, requisite insurance, ID and security in airports (and other public transportation?), inspections of bridges and tunnels and our food sources, SEC regulations, OSHA rules, building codes, licenses for medical personnel and hairdressers and teachers… how DARE the government force safety, ethics, even common sense upon FREEDOM-LOVING peoples???
Look, it’s really quite simple. Yes, we live in a country of freedoms and responsibilities. But does anyone think that freedoms and responsibilities take top priority during any other natural disaster? No. Common sense says protecting life and liberty take priority. Clearly a case of cognitive dissonance where a person adheres to a self destructive behavior over what everyone else sees. Just talk to any loved one caught up in a scam.
There’s been enough time now for all who have their MD’s approval, to have both vaccine shots. Perhaps it is time to have a mandate that you need to have both shots before being admitted into a hospital..
I wonder how those same folks would feel if we had a military draft again. Some overlap on the Venn for sure, but I suspect there would be a lot of hypocrites.
Danae’s body, Danae’s choice. You’re safe if your vax’ed, right? Or, isn’t it working like you were promised – cue the semi-annual booster. Maybe Danae survived COVID, and has God given immunity now; which has proven to be more effective than the mRNA vax. Maybe she doesn’t want to add a big Pharma produced, gene altering, serum that has shown to have heart weakening side effects in some people. Maybe she doesn’t want some power hungry, judgmental, bureaucrat with a twitchy eye saying, “Show me your papers.” Viva la Freedom!
I love the little skull cloud over the coffee. That’s the chef’s kiss on top of the whole thing. ;-) As the mother of a 14-year-old who tries every rhetorical trick in the book to get out of her chores and homework, I can very much relate to the dad here.
Wow just wow, I flipped hurriedly through the 54 replies to “silver”. Unless you folks know something I don’t, I do not see this as an anti-mandate or anti vaxer supporting cartoon. I see this as quite the opposite. I see this as a comment on the people who know what they should do and why but insist on endangering of in this case defying people who care about them.

My mother would shout and frequently nag at us kids to get things done. My father would tell us once, in a soft, firm voice.
Guess who we always listened to and swiftly obeyed?
