I know this is a comic. I know this is all fun. Moreover, I really respect Wiley and love his sense of humour mixed with his critical eye. But I have had enough of frustration in real life that I don’t want it in my comic strips. Have a good time, everyone – and Wiley.

My fav Uncle used to always threaten his precocious son in mock outrage by the following ultimatum – If you do not behave yourself i will submit my resignation from your fatherhood with immediate effect. All it did was brought out a few giggles from us naughty kids, and an exasperated eyeroll from my dear sainted Aunt.

Doesn’t he sometimes have his doubts about fatherhood? Were there strange lights in the sky around the time of Danae’s conception? Is there a related X-File in the closet of a former or current high government official somewhere?

Attorney-client confidentiality does not apply to the client. Ditto for the HIPAA for doctors. I am always free to say that I visited doctor so-and-so for treatment this-and-that.

Aside from lawyers not being allowed to represent minors without parental consent (unless they’re emancipated), I wonder if the joke will be Danae’s report card being published for all to see, since it would need to be entered into evidence for a trial, or at least described accurately as part of an attempted lawsuit.

Anybody watch “Wednesday” on Netflix? That’s who Danae reminds me of. Or vice versa.

I have no sympathy for people who complain about their kids. They raised them to be exactly what they are.

Sometimes, I wonder if it is advisable for him to acknowledge – even to Danae – that he is her father.

I know, with my own daughter between the ages of 12 and 17, that there were times when I’d have loved to be able to deny any familial relationship. Like participating in stealing a ND car in MN and taking it on a road trip to FL. But then, after she turned 18, she suddenly got it straight. Within months, she was working as security guard at a major MN mall. Quite a turnaround.

Upon reflection, I think that most fathers feel this way about their teen offspring (and especially their daughters) at times. Especially their daughters because dads have such clear recollections of how they tried in their own teen years to charm the girls into bed – and the activities and attitudes and personalities of the girls who invited them into theirs. Seeing hints of that behavior in their own daughters (or sons, for that matter) is quite alarming.

Another reason Danae is made for this era: incorrectly using a term she doesn’t understand.
