For some reason this reminded me of the time when nearly the entire cast of of Pearls was in jail and Goat was the left to carry on the humor of the strip
Well there’s only the two of you there. If, as the Wise Ass says, “in any meeting of people, there will .. be at least one …”, then by default it has to be Goat.
Wise Ass definitely demonstrates that HE knows a few things about Kickboxing. He should add some cryptic wisdom for good measure too. How about‘Ein harter Tritt zur rechten Zeit schafft Ruhe und Gemütlichkeit’(yeah it’s german but no one understands what he says anyway)
The great Wise Ass on the hill knew one day he’d encounter one of “those”! And seeing there’s only room for one wise ass at the top, he decided to implement the only move he could to protect his high position…..
This feels like a return to the bad old days for Goat. He used to come off as so snooty and pretentious back in the 00s, I couldn’t stand him. Somewhere along the way he softened without my really noticing and now he’s my favorite character.
There was a student in one of my classes who was constantly asking questions. It was like he and the professor were having a private conversation. I finally had to tell the teacher about it. I don’t think he was very pleased, and the problem still remained. I finally had to tell the character to shut up, in class, while he was doing it again. It didn’t last very long. I finally dropped the class since I wasn’t learning anything because the professor wasn’t professing.
Next semester, that same character was in another class. I walked out and dropped it immediately. I still found enough courses to finish my Masters, although it did take a while longer than I liked.
I like how the Wise Ass has actual hooves, while Goat has those stick limbs characteristic of most of the strip’s major characters (Rat, Pig, Goat, Zebra, the Crocs).
Did anyone else realize the connection between the symbolism of the overarching theme of the Great Wise Ass’ metaphor and the hidden subtext of the 4th panel of The Katzenjammer Kids strip of 15 June 1934 as published in the Slovakian translation in the AM edition of Mein Vasfenmeister’s Cultural section, page 15?

The usefulness of a meeting is inversely proportional to the number of people present multiplied by the length of the meeting.
