I always figured cats would camp out on sick people because the fever made the person warm.

I’m sure Opal means more to Muffin than just being a meal ticket. She’s also the maid who keeps the litterbox clean and refilled with fresh litter.

Long, long ago I fell into a coma here at the house. When the ambulance arrived, our cat parked herself on the back of the sofa, and when the EMT tried to put an IV in my arm, the cat got down and inspected EVERYTHING. Hubby finally had to lock the cat in the kitchen, and even then, she put her paws under the door and kept trying to pull it open. She absolutely wanted to know what those men were doing to her Momma, and Hubby is the one in charge of feeding and clean-up.

Opal is Earl’s meal ticket, today. There only so many PBJs a man can take.

One of my cats (he passed away several years ago ) really DID care if I was sick . I suffered from bad headaches often & he would be the only one that would lay with me until I felt better .

Meal ticket does not apply because the lap-sitting tends to promote continued seating. More likely, cats enjoy the 100 watts of thermal energy we emit, which is readily accessible via the lap.

I feel for Opal, I have been sick for 2 weeks now.It started out as a bad cold then on Tuesday and Wednesday I noticed that my coughing was getting worse and I was wheezing real bad so I contacted my doctor and we did a telehealth appointment Thursday morning, she is closed on Wednesday, and she says I have acute bronchitis and put me on Doxycycline and a capsule form of cough syrup that has something in it to help me sleep, it is called Benzonatate, I have never heard of a cough syrup in a pill form but she orginially wanted to give me a prescription cough syrup with codeine in it but the pharamacy siad there is a global shortage of it and they couldn’t get it. All I do is sleep and then I am up for a couple of hours to space some of my regular meds and these meds and I read some comics and then back to sleep. I am so tired and just can’t get enough sleep, which is good. I was running a high fever but that is finally gone and if my coughing and wheezing aren’t better by Monday I have to call her and she will call and schedule me for a chest X-ray to make sure it hasn’t turned into pneumonia. I feel horrible and I have always liked to be pampered when I am sick but living alone now I don’t get that and my one cat always cuddled with me when I was sick and I miss that a lot.

When my Bailey had pups, they would go crazy when I walked into the room. Finally I realized, “Idiot! They don’t care about you. You’re carrying their FOOD!” lol
