Thank you, Steve! I first encountered the works of Mary Cassatt in Art History back in the 1960’s and she instantly became one of my favorite artists—a woman, from America, who held her own and succeeded in the very competitive French art scene … and she consistently painted lovely works of art that I never get tired of seeing. Again, thanks.
There’s a problem most women can see//That child’s panties are loaded with pee//She needs to be changed//Mother’s clothes rearranged//Then the squirminess quickly will cease!
Little Kevin did not like rhubarb, no doubt about it. His mother was well intentioned but should have known teething babies can’t take tart, acidic food. Kevin instinctively tossed it away and smeared it all over.
However, it was done not in random fashion. There was something interesting in the Method by which he smeared. Darned if he didn’t smear a close copy of several paintings from The Sistine Chapel on the ceiling above his high chair. It was miraculous — was he channeling Michelangelo?
His parents suspected he was a prodigy. Kevin at first stubbornly defaced walls at home and school. In short time he became a famous maverick graffiti artist working under viaducts and upon railroad cars.
But he found lasting fame, and notoriety, in his mural work — quirky, in that it was executed by slathering layers of strained peas and carrots and various fruits. And of course, rhubarb was a thing always to be on his palette. (—

/// Here Mathilde is Holding a Child.
The two hug and yet neither one smiled.
Though she’s mostly rough sketch,
this kid seems like a kvetch
who’ll be squirming soon, then going wild.

“Mother” frustrates her daughter’s “throw”/
With a move she learned long ago:/
It’s a move that she learned/
when her living she earned/
giving lessons in taekwondo…///
It’s a fact known to only a few/
That Cassatt can be dangerous, too/
For she too, is quite partial/
to the arts known as “martial”,/
Her favorite being kung fu !
